Why would anyone eat at pasta Jay’s when you can get actually good pasta right here? I’ve had many great pasta plates from this spot and figured they deserved a good review. The only issue is I’m leaving off 1 star because of repeated reluctance to change the pasta shape to my preferred shape upon ordering. I worked in food and wine for 11 years so I can guess many of the reasons they might not ultimately want to offer pasta choices – but since I’m the pasta eater and I like certain shapes for certain sauces, it’s my choice as a customer and restaurants are here to serve customers. Nothing personal, but an important aspect for some. And if you need some fresh pasta they have it in the fridge – don’t sleep on this place or their to-go pasta, it’s fantastic.

Loved this place! The food was amazing and super fresh. Fun vibe and really kid-friendly, which made it an easy spot for the whole family. We’ll definitely be back! Great for takeout too!

Unique and casual homemade pasta spot with tasty food and friendly employees. Slightly expensive but nice and right near the pedestrian-only strip in downtown Boulder. Would recommend, although the pasta dish I got could use a few less peas.

I enjoyed and the food and atmosphere… more NYC than Boulder. The checkout was a bit of mess in that I selected to use cash, but they didn’t have a cash drawer. The young people behind the counter apparently didn’t know what to do and never made our food. Eventually it got figured out, and they we reordered and got to eat. The carbonara had mild/lighter sauce with a generous amount of cured pork and was enjoyable. The bolgnese was also good. My daughter really liked her pesto dish too. Definitely worth a try.

The people are friendly. The owner was so helpful and answered all our questions. He was born and raised in Italy. This was better pasta than we had last month in Italy.
I had the Amatriciana 10/10 amazing.
My wife had the Pesto with fresh burrata on top 10/10.
We ate outside on the sidewalk seating. It is more suited to takeout, but has limited seating inside and on the sidewalk. They even brought us a glass bottle of water.

Yummy and fresh dinner the night before the Boulderthon Half Marathon! Love the pasta bar vibe, and the Bolognese tasted almost as good as my Northern Italian mother’s!

Many wonderful reviews for this place, and I like the concept, so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered carbonara, which was prepared and served on the spot. I liked the pasta but hated the sauce (too sweet to my taste and soapy). The order came in a carton bowl and a plastic fork. This is ridiculous: half the eating experience comes from how the food is served. Suffice it to say, I did not enjoy it. Overall, worth a visit, but I’m not coming back to dine from paper plates.

The pasta is made fresh daily and is absolutely delicious. You can taste how fresh it is. The sauce compliments the taste of the fresh pasta.

I love their salad , but not the dressing. The salad of itself is fresh and crispy. One of the best salads I had in a long time. Brings me back memories of my mother making fresh salad for dinner.

I do like how they give you a whole bottle of water.

The dishware does give a cafeteria like vibe, but it’s alright. As long as the food taste good.

I would recommend coming to this place especially the pasta lovers. Great lunch spot.

The staff are excellent, seem to really enjoy doing their jobs and are super helpful. A+ for customer service.

I congratulate the tremendous effort that went into creating a nice streamlined order to food preparation and all the recyclable tableware. Fresh pasta was also very nice and the finished dishes were quite nice but sorry to say it did not go beyond what we could make at home. It would be nice to have something that makes the eating experience a big special. I liked the cleanliness of the place.
