Very memorable experience, food and service. Great thing to note is that the service staff noticed I was left handed near the start of the courses and set the utensils accordingly to my dominant hand. And my sake and my partners hot tea never sat empty for very long. Very attentive and knowledgeable service staff.
The selection of seafood was fresh with varying textures and flavours. Hot and cold vegetable and beef dishes were also quite decent. All kitchen staff coordinated their timing very well during and in between courses and showcased good technical skill throughout the omakase experience. Will definitely recommend.

This was an absolutely unforgettable omakase dinner theater experience! From the moment you arrive, you’re transported into a world where culinary mastery and performance seamlessly collide. Each course is a work of art—impeccably sourced, flawlessly prepared, and presented with intention and grace. The chefs don’t just cook; they tell a story, engaging every sense with precision, passion, and quiet confidence. The pacing, the artistry, the flavors—everything feels perfectly choreographed. This is not just a meal, it’s an immersive experience that sets a new standard for what omakase can be. Truly exceptional and worth every moment.

For our recent birthday and wedding anniversary celebration, we visited a Michelin 1-star restaurant for the first time, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed into a beautifully designed waiting area where we could relax and take in the stunning decor. The staff were incredibly friendly, engaging in light small talk that made the wait for our table feel effortless and enjoyable.

The restaurant’s round bar setup and exquisite interior design were breathtaking. Though located in Vancouver, the ambiance made us feel like we’d stepped into a high-end restaurant in Japan. The attention to detail in the decor set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu was wonderfully varied, featuring starters, nigiri, tempura, ramen, and more. What stood out was how the staff showcased the ingredients used in each dish, highlighting their freshness and quality. They also kindly explained the preparation process for each course, which added so much to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

As the meal wrapped up with dessert, the staff made our birthday and anniversary celebration extra special by playing a celebratory song on the flute. It was a touching and unforgettable moment that we’ll cherish forever.

This restaurant truly lives up to its Michelin 1-star reputation with its impeccable atmosphere, food, and service. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience. Whether it’s for a celebration or just to treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed—go visit and see for yourself!

It was hard to define how amazing my experience was in Okeya Kyujiro. They certainly served the freshest and best-quality dishes with their performance by skillful chefs. All we need to do was just sitting by the table while they were preparing each heavenly bite of happiness.

We started having their signature appetizers and chawanmushi. Then, the chef began cutting the fish or meat to serve. The server would explain to us each nigiri/dishes that we were having.

At the end, they served us dessert and matcha ceremonial drink. The ambience was very authentic and elegant. The service was exceptional.

25 course omakase and even though it was expensive it was worth every penny. You get a iron chef type of perspective watching the chef(s) prepare the courses in front of you. Food was excellent and presentation was awe inspiring and service is exceptional, no wonder they have a Michelin star! Best Omakase I ever had!!!

Exceptional marketing as is done by many Japanese things and the experience is pretty cool with the communication that is done before your reservation etc to know your allergies and what occasion you’ll be celebrating but the price might be a little bit high because I found the omakase lunch meal to be not as refreshing to the stomach and not filling enough even though there were 15 pieces of food presented and the dessert was not as special as the one at Kishimoto on commercial drive although a bit of the powder on top was the same. It was like a flavorless flat piece of ricecake which was noisy. I would have appreciated something like a garden salad for one of the pieces too. I think the traditional roll was one of my favorites and surprisingly different from any I’ve had before
