I recently found myself in Hobbs, NM, for a work trip, and our partners recommended trying El Coco Pirata for lunch—and it was an excellent suggestion. This small, locally-owned restaurant exudes a welcoming vibe, complete with a live band playing music during our meal, which added to the relaxed atmosphere.
For my meal, I went with the fish tacos paired with a side of rice. They serve four generously portioned tacos, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and authentic. The food was delicious overall, and I would happily return for another visit.
If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with authentic, fresh flavors and a cool local ambiance, El Coco Pirata is definitely worth checking out.

This is what I call an authentic seafood place with loads of different options! I am from El Paso Texas and this place is very delicious I had the arrachera and let me tell you they are not stingy with their food.

We’ll, I wouldn’t think Hobbs New Mexico is a great place for seafood, but here it is nonetheless. I had the molcahete and it was delicious. The restaurant is clean and well staffed. And check out their logo! Would eat here again.

Ordered over the phone and was told 20 minutes. Waited 30 to actually go to pick it up because they are known for taking forever. At the restaurant, stood for 15 more minutes before my food was ready.

First time to coco pirata, heard many great things about it and definitely recommend it for when your are craving seafood. Food is super delicious, they have plenty of seafood options. If you don’t like seafood this definitely a place I do not recommend for you. To me the prices we a little high but not tremendously.

I enjoyed red chile shrimp ceviche but it was too spicy. It’s better to get chile on the side and the oyster shots were really good too!

Hands down the best meal I’ve had in New Mexico. I’ve been working here for two months and it’s been very difficult finding really good food until now. It’s a small place and definitely didn’t expect good steak or seafood. They have both plus much more. If you haven’t been there you should go.

Food is always delicious. Fresh sea food and other options available. Service is pretty consistent all the time. Parking is the only hassle sometimes but it’s a nice local restaurant to have dinner at.
