Amazing location, super chic but very busy. Expect a lot of people on the weekends, try to order in advance (using the app) to avoid the very long lines.
Or, order, go for a walk outside to the stores and come back!

I’ve been going every Thursday for the past month and a half. The place has a good atmosphere and you can work online. The barista service varies greatly; the manager is super friendly, but the rest leave a lot to be desired. Also, it’s also the only Starbucks I’ve seen that asks if you’ve eaten there before sharing the bathroom code.

hi ! I’m leaving this 5 star review to counter the absolute idiot I saw berating a worker today claiming he had a service dog and it obviously wasn’t a service dog. it started barking, the worker came to see what was wrong (because a service dog barking means something is wrong) and the customer just got mad and started lashing out before loudly proclaiming he was gonna leave a “nice review” for the worker.

I Am Absolutely Appalled by This Establishment.Well, let me tell y’all something. I have been a loyal Starbucks customer for YEARS. I am practically on a first-name basis with my mobile order history. I walk into Starbucks more often than I walk into my own kitchen. So you can imagine my utter disbelief when I strolled into the Rice Village location on my birthday, my actual birthday, mind you, and experienced the most shockingly rude behavior I have ever seen in a place that claims to serve hospitality and coffee. My friends and I had JUST stepped inside. The door had barely even closed behind us. And this employee comes at us like we kicked her dog, hollerin’ about us “standing in the entrance.” Honey, we had been in that doorway for approximately one Mississippi. Where in the world were we supposed to go? Should I have teleported to the counter? Should I have somersaulted across the floor like a circus act? Let’s be serious. And then, bless her heart, she somehow managed to get even ruder. We walked up, very calmly and very politely, ready to spend far too much money on iced coffee, and she flat-out ordered us to leave the store. No explanation. No courtesy. Not even the fake customer-service smile they teach in training videos. So I told her, as sweetly as anyone could on their birthday, “Ma’am, it’s my birthday.” And do y’all know what she said? She said she DID NOT CARE. The audacity was truly groundbreaking.
Next thing I know, we’re being ushered out the door like we’re stray animals instead of loyal, paying customers. I stood outside, holding my wallet and my dignity, wondering how in the world a place I support every single morning could treat anyone this way. This wasn’t just bad customer service. This was a complete collapse of manners, humanity, and basic Southern decency. My mama raised me better than to speak to ANYONE like that, and frankly, it is astonishing that she felt comfortable doing it in broad daylight. To Starbucks corporate: please, for the love of good sweet tea and common sense, get this location under control. No loyal customer should ever be yelled at, dismissed, or kicked out for simply standing where the architect put the door.
Until this store remembers what manners look like, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Bless y’all’s heart.

Stepping into the Starbucks at 2531 Amherst St in Houston is like finding an oasis of calm in the bustling heart of Rice Village. The welcoming baristas here, known for their kindness and friendly demeanor, add a personal touch to every visit. They create an atmosphere that is both lively and relaxing, making it a perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening wind-down.

The interior design strikes a balance between modern chic and cozy comfort. The presence of numerous charging plugs and fast Wi-Fi makes it a haven for students and professionals alike, looking for a productive workspace. While the comfortable couches and bar tables invite relaxation, it’s worth noting that the two-person tables might feel a bit mismatched in height to the chairs, which could be a minor inconvenience for those planning to work on their laptops for extended periods.

One of the standout features of this Starbucks is its fantastic outdoor seating area, which becomes particularly enjoyable when Houston’s weather is at its finest. The setting in Rice Village adds to the charm, surrounded by a variety of great stores. This makes the Starbucks not just a coffee stop, but a pleasant pause during a day of shopping or exploring the area.

On a personal note, my visit on a Monday night prior to Christmas was nothing short of delightful. The Rice Village scenery, adorned with festive decorations and the crisp early winter weather, provided a perfect backdrop for a late-night coffee.

This Starbucks location is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a community hub that reflects the vibrant energy of Rice Village, a place where you can enjoy a superb cup of coffee, soak in the friendly atmosphere, and perhaps even bump into a familiar face. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this Starbucks is a must-visit for a quintessential Houston coffee experience.

I ordered an ice espresso in grande cup with syrup and milk and I got it in a short cup. The barista taking my order seemed new so i understood that they accidentally put the order in wrong. However when i approached the barista at the bar and asked nicely her to remake it. Emphasis on remake. She poured my drink into a grande ice cup and when I told her that that was not what I wanted. She gave me a very nasty attitude until I told her that I also worked at Starbucks and I know that is not standard. Please train your employees correctly.

Got the 2 for 1 deal and ordered a Caramel Macchiato. Should have ordered a Cold Brew instead which was what I originally had planned to order. It was still ok. I know this place gets a bit crowded. It wasn’t too bad on my visit. (April 12)
