Best spot around here! im from nj, and this chicken is a 9/10. Service was awesome and since it was cash only and I didn’t have enough for the food and drinks, the man even blessed us up by covering the drinks!! Hands down the BEST fried chicken wings in the City of Reading, Pa & has been for more than 30 years. I wasn’t born in this City, but I’ve been eating these wings for more than 30 years strong. Many years ago, he used to have more tasty items for sale, but over the years has reduced it to what customers really want/need which is Soul Food. Headlined by the best fried chicken wings the City of Reading has to offer. Before I begin I must tell you that I am only here to review their wings & fries, delivery through DoorDash has only been available for a a month or so. Prior to this, it’s ALWAYS been pickup. The fries are the basic straight cut fry. They weren’t over or under cooked and matched up well with the wings. The added roll is a black thing. I am black so please don’t think that was a foul statement. Most of us, myself included will not eat fried chicken without bread. It doesn’t matter if 10 pounds of fries were included in the platter. There must be As you can see, each piece of chicken was coated and cooked properly. There was no darker or lighter pieces. Every piece of skin on every piece of chicken was the same color. This tells me that no matter how busy they get the food quality is consistent. Please note that this place gets real busy so sometimes DoorDash isn’t available. You may have to call and place your order then pick it up. These wings were served hot which is always a plus when being delivered. Seasoned to perfection with crunchy exterior and a juicy interior. Once you take a bite, you won’t stop eating until all of your wings are gone. Don’t even think about sharing them with a fellow newcomer. Pay the money and get everyone their own platter. Another plus was that I didn’t notice any hairs on my chicken. Now I’m not saying that your piece won’t have any, but mines didn’t. If you happen to stop by, tell them Big Dave sent ya. The best fried chicken wings in Reading, Pa. With that in mind, my name BigDaveIsFat says it ALL!

Stopped and grabbed 50 wings, fries, mac & cheese, macaroni salad and potato salad. Mac & cheese was ok but everything else was fantastic. We were in town visiting and my wife recommended we come to Beckett’s and get some chicken and she said it’s just as good as she remembered! Excellent

I was in the area and due to my son’s high recommendation I made a point to stop in and get some to go. What a treat! Super friendly staff (owner), the chicken had a crispy, delicious crust, & all the sides were great (Mac & cheese, greens & sweet potatoes). Chicken was cooked to order and after an hour ride was still warm and crunchy. 100% worth the trip.

I’ve been to Beckett’s a few times over the years, and while the food itself is good, the prices have become outrageous. On my recent visit, I ordered a plate with wings, greens, and baked mac & cheese, and my total came out to $28. To make matters worse, paying with a card meant additional fees were added on top of that.
When I first came here about two years ago, the exact same plate was around $17. I understand prices go up, but nearly doubling the cost in such a short time plus tacking on extra charges for card payments feels unreasonable.
The food has flavor, but the pricing and fees make it hard to justify coming back.

Beckett’s is a local gem. They serve the best soul food in town hands down. What makes this place top notch is that every order is made-to-order, so be prepared to wait 20-25 min for you fresh meal. The chicken breast is very juicy and tender. The greens are made perfectly, and the Mac and cheese is just out of this world. If you are looking for some fried chicken please don’t go to Popeyes or kfc and support this local establishment, because you will not be disappointed!

Great place if you want some good home cooked soul food. Chicken there is very good made fresh to order and the greens are pretty good as well. Place looks as id did for many years could use a update but why they still sell a whole Lotta food. So check them out for sure if you want a nice full belly with some good food.

This is my third time ordering from Becketts & I’ve lived in Reading for a year now. My food was so good, I even called to tell them personally! I beg you to not dip your chicken in anything before you try it without! Juicy with a crunchy skin is my absolute favorite. The collard greens are full of flavor & let’s not forget the sweet potato yams! I’ll continue to hype this place up anytime someone mentions Soul food.

Excellent soul food and owner is as great as his food!!! If you haven’t had the fried chicken yet, you HAVE TO! Oh, and the mac-n-cheese! The pic is chicken, mac-n-cheese, collard greens and, of course, corn bread. Ya just can’t get enough, though you probably can’t eat it all, either! Pretty sure it’s take-out only though. It’s in an area that you most likely would think you don’t want to be in, but trust me, it’s worth it. They also participate with GrubHub and I believe delivery is only $.99; another great option if you’re wary.
