We enjoyed the Surfing Crab, the food and service were very good. I ate here twice within a week, the first time with my parents and the second with some friends. Both groups heartily enjoyed the food. The first time I had the Daily Special with the shrimp, crab and crawfish. This dish came with potatoes, corn on the cob and sausage. The food was delivered in a bag, mixed and placed into a large metal dish in front of us. The food and sauces were very good. We also split a fried seafood basket, opting for the catfish and oysters, served on a large plate of fries. Everything was very good. The second night I was there, we split a Combo meal, going with the shrimp and clams. The sauces were very good.
As a bonus, the hushpuppies did NOT have sugar added. Sweet hushpuppies should be outlawed and I was very happy that the Surfing Crab makes them correctly.

Came here for our anniversary dinner, the food was flavorful and the raw oysters were MASSIVE!!!! Enjoyed a nice dinner, the waitress was attentive and friendly. The place is a little dark so it was hard to see our menus. When the food came out it was hot and fresh but our boiled eggs were definitely overcooked I had to take the yolks out due to poor flavor because of it. Some of the crawfish were tiny but beyond that food was great!

Oh my GOSH we had the best server EVER. We came in on a fluke…just a random Tuesday afternoon and we had Díana as our server and she treated us like we were the only people there. She was very attentive, eager to engage us in the house delights She was a lot of fun. Her customer service was second to NONE. Truly, she was the epitome of customer service We will certainly be back with our favorite friends and family. She made our ordinary day really special. See you soon. Came in for the boyfriends birthday with his mom and dad, food was so good we really didn’t touch the butter and were dipping in the seasoned butter and the Dungeness crab was so damn good sweet and tender. We had lovely julian as our host so sweet and funny. We mentioned the birthday last minute but he still planned a little surprise for him bringing out a cheesecake and singing, that was truly amazing for him and everyone to do, thank you we will be back again .

The service was great. I did like the food. However my sister crab was ice cold in the middle and one cluster of mine was as well. The corn was hard as well. The waitress fixed her order but I didn’t send my back. I just don’t like doing that. Overall I had a great time and enjoyed going here. I definitely like this location better than the other crab place in San Marcos. Surfing has way more flavor.

As an Escondido raised, I am grateful for this awesome spot! My daughters and I love this restaurant (and we are picky!). At first I we were skeptical but now we get excited for our date nights here! First time visiting. I appreciate that they are open later than most seafood restaurants. Went an hour before they closed and I was immediately seated and my orders were taken within minutes. Overall a good experience.

New place to try near our area. Staff sit us right away. They were friendly and attentive. Our drinks were filled right away. Service was quick and everything was hot. We ordered the Trio Especial it is a lot for 3 people so we took home the left over. We chose the lemon butter and Cajun for the sauce. Love that they name their drinks after locations in Escondido. I think they need to put a big sign outside where everybody can see it. We just happen to stop in front of it. They have happy hour until 7pm. They have other Asian inspired dishes on the menu so if you don’t like seafood there are other options. We would be back again with friends and families.

We came here for lunch on a Friday and just had the deep fried catfish and shrimp lunch specials with a calamari appetizer. The calamari was tender, the fries were tasty, but the “jumbo” shrimp were only medium in size, and one piece of catfish tasted fishy, like not fresh. But the worst part was that staff were very perfunctory (just going through the motion) and looked like they didn’t want to be there except to have a job – no greeting, no smile, just wanted to know how many in the party and what we’re ordering. This plus the dark interior made for a sad and depressed atmosphere. I would not go back even if their prices are reasonable.

The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were fun and friendly,and all at an amazing price. I have no idea how they can stay in business with the portion size and quality vs the price. I feel likeI robbed them . The food was served within five minutes too! I have found our new favorite restaurant!
