I really liked the potato salad, non of the food had a weird taste. Idk maybe the corn bread is too sweet bc I was enjoying the coleslaw and then I ate a bite of cornbread which was very flavorful which now the slaw has no flavor. Was nice overall tho. Perhaps whatever makes it flavorful isn’t there after a few bites. Really scratching my head over it. As for the brisket itself. Its from a crock pot? Hmm wasn’t really expecting it. Was tender and flavorful though. It’s not to big of a shop. No clue how it stacks up against Texas BBQ. I was thinking it would be like a nice medium rare brisket… Idk why I didn’t BBQ brisket like BBQ sauce + brisket. I mean like I’d imagine it’s not possible to the BBQ on the side? The bbq sauce is good at least haha. I wouldn’t say like you can really taste the wood and the beef.. I think maybe I’d more expect this brisket on a sandwich haha.

Amazed to find Brisket in Alaska….. everything was really good, it taste fresh, and the portion was plentiful that I had enough for the next day…..I did go back for more sauce (the not so spicy one, and it’s because I loved it)!

Thank you SHBBQ!

I was pretty disappointed. I’ve had meals from here in the past, both catered and from the shack and they had always been really good! Today however it was like a completely different place. My brisket was dry and near flavorless. The sauce made it better at least. My ribs were better and at least had some flavor and were moist. Both however were look warm. My beans were actually cold, and my slaw looked like it was leftovers from yesterday. Likewise my fries were cold and looked and tasted like they have been reheated from yesterday’s batch, they were overcooked and absolutely terrible! The young lady who served us was nice, but she forgot to include the corn bread in all of our meals. Unfortunately we didn’t check before we left, so there’s not point trying to go back to request it after the fact. I’m actually pretty sad, because I’ve always like this spot, but likely won’t be coming back.

Delicious! Ordered the Cowboy Fries which was a yummy combo of cheese, meat & fries! It was a great amount of food to share. Got a side of potato salad and yummy chili too!
You can taste the love in this food!
I always try to support small local food joints and wasn’t disappointed by this wonderful little drive thru. It is charmingly decorated and makes you feel like you’re out west while still in the frozen north.

Worst place to eat in Anchorage, even keeping in mind that it’s basically a food truck that’s just stuck in place. I saw online that they were selling a brisket sandwich for something like 18$, which I felt was reasonable. When I pulled in, they told me the brisket sandwich was 30$. I was already in line at that point so I got over it, but when I asked which sauces they had, they just said “we only have one sauce, ketchup with seasoning.” I went ahead with it (big mistake), and 30 seconds later I was holding a styrofoam box. That sandwich had to have been sitting there, pre-made, because as soon as I tried to pick it up, the soggy bread fell to pieces. I ordered a sandwich and ended up with brisket-and-breadslaw for twice the price. I’m not a picky eater, but I was so pissed when I couldn’t even pick the thing up that I refused to eat it. I tried a few pieces of brisket to be sure, but it was nothing special. Never going back, I get annoyed every time I pass it on the highway.

Holy cow! (Pun not intended but it fits ) smoked brisket ✔️ smoked bbq pulled pork sandwich ✔️ smoked chicken ✔️ pineapple coleslaw ✔️ cowboy fries…what?!? Yes! ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ they even have potato salad etc if you are itching for that too…. So I wanted to try a variety of things and sizes to see what they offer and boy howdy do they deliver! Their portion size is by weight and it is huge for the price no skimping on portions here! They even sell their house bbq sauce by the pint so if you want some fresh smoky sweet extra as a gift (that’s why I bought one) or just for yourself later I highly recommend getting some! They even tossed in a generous side of smoked meat for my pup who wouldn’t stop talking to them as my window rolled down! Thank you so much for his experience and we will be back soon!

I got the Cowboy Fries with extra sauce. It is expensive but a large serving with great flavor. It’s definitely worth it. I also got the pineapple coleslaw, which was okay. Poor photo as I devoured most of it prior to taking photo.

Dang. So, I was starving after an appointment. I wanted a big meal. All I got was a big disappointment. Huge blobs of brisket fat. Literally made me sick to.my stomach. What was meat (not fat) tastes like tobacco. It has a bad smoked flavor. The brisket chili equally sucked. The baked beans were fine but, even school lunch can’t mess that up. No, I wont go back. Also, why no house sauces? Ok, no sauces. Pure tobacco flavor. Blobs of gelatinous fat. Also, how are you supposed to eat the sandwich? I wanted a brisket sandwich. I ate the meat, with a fork, out of a soggy hoagie.

This is my 3rd time here. Came back because it has been pretty good two prior time, but this time I spent $58 and recieved burnt cornbread, and ribs that appear to just barely cooked enough to consider done but far from tender. Pretty much feel ripped off.
I will say the potatoe salad and the brisket beans are pretty good, but for $58…

We stopped by and ate at the picnic tables.
I had a 1/2 rack of ribs, and my family had Cowboy Fries, Cowgirl Fries and reg fries. All were really good and had enough for a 2nd meal/snack. The ribs had a lot of meat attached above the ribs and were enough for 2+ meals for me. The BBQ sauce is great. Tangy but not too spicy.
