This place reminds me of mom’s cooking! I love this place, the food is amazing. I haven’t had a dish i didnt e joy. The chilaquiles are spicy which is how they’re supposed to be! Spicy! This is my favorite place in all of Downey.

I ordered the beef tongue dish because it sounded interesting. And boy was it delicious…Highly recommend it. It was one of the best tongue dish I have ever had.
We had our own sitting area in the back for our large party, server was nice. Initially they got my dish wrong but they were very nice about changing it to the correct one.
My kid and friends kid got the nuggets and fries that were yummy. French toast was also good.

Good place to eat but the waiter never came by if we needed refills or anything I have to ask the cleaning lady for refills and other things happy with the food not the service

Hands down, they have one of the best chilaquiles de mole! They have such great flavor accompanied with the cheese, sour cream, scrambled eggs and beans. The Fonda especial dish is really good too. It comes with chilaquiles (not too spicy which is great), chicharrón verde, scrambled eggs, beans, and asada. Their iced cafe de olla and horchata are really good, except next time I would like less whipped cream on it. I will definitely be returning to try their other breakfast items and lunch options.
The prices are fairly reasonable given that they have big servings! Super good!
One thing I suggest is to please clean the menus with a clean cloth because they smelled really bad. They smelled musty and damp.
Lunch:
Good cocktails and the food was good.
Taquitos de papa: These were really good but I wished they had a green sauce that would be served with this dish.
Quesa birria tacos: The Consomé and tacos were spot on.
Wet burrito: The meat was flavorful, maybe the cheese on top could be melted for a better taste.
Tacos gobernador: Yummy!

My son and I found this place by chance and SO GLAD WE DID!! The best cafè de olla I have found, you can taste the spices and lightly sweetend just perfect! My son ordered chilaquiles and I had the nopales a la mexicana, ALL was great! The service was fast and courteous at the time (Monday 10:30 am). 100% recommend!

Fonda Maria it’s a hidden gem in City of Donwey ! My favorite dish is pork spare ribs with cactus in green sauce. I’m not Mexican, so it’s a bit too spicy for me; but it’s so delicious that I always order it anyway. The coffee, café de olla, and the cornbread are absolutely the best!
