I’ve order the Cowboy pizza many times but this was this first time ordering a custom pizza. The toppings were very generous a great value for the price. And their Mediterranean salad is good too.

I recently tried the 14’’ stuffed crust cheese pizza with garlic crust, and unfortunately, it fell well below expectations. What I received wasn’t remotely close to the quality you’d expect from a pizzeria—or even a halfway decent frozen brand. This pizza was more reminiscent of something you’d find under heat lamps at a rundown gas station or languishing in a school cafeteria.
From the first bite, the cheese slid off in one sad, rubbery sheet, the crust was overly doughy, and the whole thing was drowning in grease. As for the flavor—there wasn’t any. The garlic crust tasted like plain bread, and the “stuffed” portion was so bland I had to check twice to confirm it was actually filled with anything at all. Visually, the pizza looked promising, but the flavor simply didn’t match the appearance.
To be blunt, this was worse than anything I’ve had from Domino’s, Pizza Hut, or Papa John’s—and that’s saying something. I’d never heard of Papa Murphy’s before, and now I understand why. This pizza would struggle to compete even in the frozen aisle.
To make matters worse, there was a shady billing issue. I selected a specific tip amount in person, only to discover later that exactly 20% had been added to my bill without my consent. No receipt was provided at the time, so I only caught this when reviewing my credit card statement. That’s not just poor service—that’s a serious red flag. If you still choose to order from here, check your receipt closely… assuming they even bother to give you one.

The customer service was warm and friendly, and I truly enjoyed the overall experience. The pizza itself was tasty — the crust, cheese, and toppings were all very good. However, my only concern was with the sauce. On both pizzas we ordered, there was noticeably too little. The regular red sauce was barely detectable, and the creamy red sauce on the second pizza was almost nonexistent. When we pulled back the cheese, there was very little sauce underneath. While everything else was great, a more balanced amount of sauce would have made the pizzas even better.

Debra and her team at Papa Murphy’s in Cary are fantastic. The pizza is always delicious, but what sets them apart is their customer service. There aren’t many places where EVERY person working there is pleasant, happy, and focused on doing a great job for their customers. This is that rare place. I’ve been going there for years and have never had anything less than a positive experience and terrific pizza.
