A personal favorite. Some of the best pizza you can get in Southern Maryland. Service is great if you eat in, take out is also very easy. It’s not a fast place, but I’ll wait for quality!

If you’re willing to spend a few bucks extra and wanting to try something new, I suggest the stuffed pizza.

If you are balling on a budget, you can get a 1 topping pizza for 8+tax.

Hostesses are sometimes a little standoffish or an uninterested attitude. Even gave them positive feedback about our meal on the way out and they were like “oh… ok…”. but the food is fantastic and its a wonderful restaurant. Meet the chef too hes a great guy. Great portions for the price. This place really adds something special to Dunkirk.

My family was there at end of September. We were very disappointed in the food. All entrees consisted of an orange sauce, not the traditional red sauce, and there were no herbs or noticeable Italian flavors in the entrees. My lasagna consisted of noodles in an orange sauce with cheese on top which was not browned or baked looking as is the usual entree of this type. Rest of family had the same experience with their entrees. We were there middle of the day and only a few other tables of people were there. Service was slow! Baked bread with the meal should have included the traditional olive oil/herb blend for dipping. It did not.The atmosphere was very nice looking and typical of an upscale Italian restaurant and that was the only positive side to this experience.

Even a frozen dinner would of been better then that. Terrible bland food and never even got offered a second glass of tea. I will never return.Salad was warm, food was cold. The bread was excellent so I will offer it one star. Tables weren’t bussed, dirty half full dishes sitting on the tables. We should of left but the lady when she finally came to seat us was nice but was eating and had a dirty tie!

The staff has always been very nice and accommodating but the food is just average overall. Some meals are better, some worse. Lots of the basic tomato sauces are quite plain, not rich or deep at all. Eggplant parmesan isn’t very flavorful, same with a few of their chicken dishes. Alfredo is also not up to par (not that Alfredo should be a measure of a real Italian place anyway). Side salads still use plain flavorless iceberg lettuce, although they do add olives, peppers, and mushrooms to the side salads which is nice. Been going there infrequently since they opened, about 10 years ago, and I’ve realized many of the dishes just feel like they’re missing something…on the verge of being really good but somehow fall short. Pizza is quite good though. My only definite recommendation is to skip the pasta fagioli. It’s the weakest recipe of that soup I’ve ever had and is more like bland bean soup with a little carrot and miscellaneous pasta pieces tossed in. I gave it two chances over a couple months and that soup just isn’t very good. Overall the place is worth trying but don’t expect anything amazing.

Mamma Lucia’s was highly recommended, but we were thoroughly disappointed. We went for an early dinner and almost had the place to ourselves. Unfortunately, that did not translate to prompt service. Our waitress was nice, but not very attentive or responsive, disappearing for long stretches of time. We ordered Rigatoni Matriciana and Eggplant Parmigiana for our meals. The sausage on the Rigatoni was okay, but the sauce was very bland and tasteless. The Eggplant was rubbery and quite bitter and we ended up sending it back after a couple of bites. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. They might have just been having an off day, but enough things didn’t click well enough for me to want to go back.

Our second visit there over the last 6 or so months. I’d give them about a 3.5 for this visit, with our first visit having been a 5. Tonight was apparently homecoming in Calvert County, and restaurant was badly understaffed/ill prepared.. We waited about 35 minutes. Staff was visibly very flustered and absolutely not prepared for rush patrons (yet they had about 40% of tables open or unbussed). Ordered food was hot once we got it, and our waiter did passably ok, but side dishes and appetizers were overlooked/forgotten about and then it was mostly fluffed off. We will probably go again but make sure there are no events or holiday stuff going on; that way we can see if we repeat the first experience or the second, and take it from there…

The food wasn’t the greatest. We ordered Fettuccine Alfredo that tasted like buttered noodles. Zero flavor…. Spaghetti was mediocre. Pizza was okay, but no extra cheese. Overall, I will not go back.
