Let me start by saying this — I absolutely love Bento Sushi on campus. Hands down, it’s one of the best dining options Jacksonville University has to offer. The food is always fresh, the chicken is cooked perfectly, and the flavor never misses. Every time I stop by, it feels like they genuinely care about what they’re serving.

The two people who work there — the kind lady and the man behind the counter — deserve serious recognition. They always greet me with a smile, get my order right every single time, and even hook me up with a solid portion of chicken. They never rush you, never act annoyed, and they always make sure you have enough teriyaki sauce. It’s that small stuff that makes you actually want to come back. If the workers over at Riverview Dining Hall had their attitude and kindness, JU dining would honestly be elite.

Now, here’s the only issue — Bento is located inside North Hall, which is a dorm. If you’re a commuter like me, your ID doesn’t swipe you in, so you can’t even access it without someone letting you through. That’s incredibly frustrating, not just for me but for anyone off-campus who loves Bento. It’s hurting their business and making something great way harder to enjoy.

Bento deserves better accessibility. It’s the one spot on campus that actually gets it right — friendly service, quality food, and consistency. If JU could just make it open to everyone, this place would easily be the most popular food option on campus.
