First time I ate their cheese steak. All I had was onions cheese and ketchup. Decent portion. Good seasoning. My only issue was the cheese wiz. Very watery. Someone else also mentioned this in another review. It was leaking out the bag. I never had a cheesesteak with such watery cheese whiz. Would have preferred Yellow American cheese but all they have is white. Not a fan of the taste of white American cheese. Hits different. Anywho overall I enjoyed it and would give it a 4.5 if possible.

I loved this cheesesteak place! This is probably my favorite cheesesteak place in Philadelphia. They have a ton of options compared to some of the more traditional popular cheesesteak spots in Philadelphia. Its on the more expensive side, but their cheesesteaks are huge, so you get your money’s worth. I have a big appetite and couldn’t quite finish mine. You can add lots of different kinds of cheese, and they even have a hoagie option. They also had a peach shake which was amazing. My only criticism is despite all of the other options, there was only one type of bread they offered. And it wasnt bad, but it wasn’t my favorite. The bread comes with sesame seeds, and I think they were toasted sesame seeds. If you get a burger bun with sesame seeds, its generally a very subtle taste difference. But these toasted (I assume they were toasted) sesame seeds had kind of a strong flavor. I am sure a lot of people love that, but frankly I would have enjoyed a bread without them more. I will definitely come back here if I return to Philadelphia someday!!!

Wow! Flew in from Texas and we were so excited to try an official Philly in Philly! Cleavers more than outdid our expectations, delicious, warm, flavorful and great proportions. You order at a screen, go upstairs have a seat and they will call your name when it’s ready. The block is traditional Philly steak, and ordered garlic parm fries with white cheese sauce.

Moving reviews over from Yelp. Originally published 4/8/19:

This was my first “official” Philly cheesesteak. I’ve had a lot of cheesesteaks before but never in Philadelphia so I suppose those were all “unofficial” cheesesteaks.

I searched Yelp to help me determine where to go. I was staying near Rittenhouse Square and this was a local option that seemed to be pretty popular and pretty well reviewed.

I showed up on the late side for dinner and asked the young lady who takes the orders to help me order a traditional Philly cheesesteak. She recommended the unseeded bread, with whiz and fried onions so that’s exactly what I ordered. I grabbed a couple of cups of water and headed upstairs with my number to wait for my food to arrive.

My first impression when the food arrived was “damn, that’s a big ass sandwich!” My second impression was that there was zero chance I could eat all of it and how glad I was that I passed on the fries as a side dish.

Not surprisingly, the food was piping hot. Seriously, scald your mouth and your fingers hot. I let it sit.

Once it was cool enough to handle I finally got my first bite. The beef was a bit more mildly flavored that I expected but that could just be due to the abundance of flavor from the whiz and onions. Still, each bite was pretty well mixed between the four components: steak, bread, whiz and onions. I made it through half of the sandwich and then slowed down significantly. Far less than another quarter was consumed and I was stuffed.

Overall, a good experience. The idea of whiz did not appeal but it actually worked well in the sandwich. The food was served piping hot and everything tasted very fresh. With the amount of business they do, I don’t think it’s even possible for ingredients to age in their store.

Being from out of town, this is quintessentially what I would call a Philly cheesesteak. It was perfectly executed, and the seeded roll was dynamite. Excellent pairing with their waffle fries made for a memorable meal downtown.

Personally, I have no problem never going back there. There is not one reason for me to.
The prices, to me are ridiculous. Yes, they are somewhat comparative to a few other big name cheesesteak places (which some of them I dont care for either). But the sub roll was like some seeded roll. It was hard to bite thru. Like when your chewing well done steak. The rib eye steak on the sandwich, not only did it not have much of any type of flavor to it (I got salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo, and fried onions) but the meat was cold. Like what. Some of yal readers probably thinking that maybe I took a while before consuming. NOPE. I ordered my sandwich and took it to the dining table so me n my wife can split.
I am born and raised from philly. I dont care to go to popular spots but my cousin recommended. Needless to say, she is full of crock.
But as always, I encourage yal to check it out for yourself.

Very good quick service. They had seating upstairs which is nice after walking around all day. The cheese steaks are good and you can probably share it between 2 people. I ordered mine with the mozzarella moons which I think I would rather have as a side instead of on the sandwich. Overall it was great and id love to stop by again

Staple Cheesesteak Spot!
Tried both the cheesesteak and chicken cheese Philly — absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and loaded just right. The fries were crispy and the milkshakes hit the spot. Definitely a must-try place for anyone craving a solid Philly fix!

I had the Cleaver sandwich, which was massive! So good-i didn’t put the
Cheese wiz and added grilled onions and it was amazing! Waffles fries were crisp and not greasy-outstanding. The wall of beer is a great idea as it allows you to taste different beers by pouring a small amount-wish more places did this.

Went here with my coworker for our last night on a work trip and the food was AMAZING! Was really impressed with the menu as someone who doesn’t eat beef or pork and I’m not usually a huge big, cheesy sub fan but the hot chicken was beyond delicious and comforting after a very long and physical labor filled day. They give you a ton of food and we realized after that we absolutely could have shared one sandwich. As a fry connoisseur I have to say their waffle fries were a 5/5 I could have eaten another order by myself. Really cool concept of being able to try out a bunch of beers and not having to commit to 12 or 16oz so we had a lot of fun and found some beers we’re now trying to find back home!

Service was great! The guys were super friendly and helpful! We are both super indecisive and their favorites suggestions were 10/10. Thanks so much, we’re definitely coming back the next time we have to work on Philly!
