Located on a main road so not the easiest for parking. Not a lot of seating feom what we could see but managed to get a table straight away. We tried 2 dishes feom the chefs specialities but they also offer the common dishes such as madras, bhuna etc. Food was delicious both curries were full of depth and flavour. We found the naan dry with a strong chemical smell hence only 4 stars.

This review reflects my experience dining in at Mowchack, which I wouldn’t recommend. That said, the food showed real potential and may well be better as a takeaway, where it’s more likely to be served hot.
Arriving at six o’clock on a cold winter’s evening, the restaurant lacked warmth both physically and in atmosphere. When the food arrived on cold plates, looking as though it had been kept just warm enough under a heat lamp to slowly dry out, it was hard to feel much enthusiasm.
Criticisms aside, the food itself had merit. Each dish had a distinct flavour, and with more care in presentation and temperature, it could have looked genuinely appealing.
I’m not entirely sure why Mowchack describes itself as a restaurant, as the overall experience felt somewhat half-hearted. I may return, but next time it will be for a takeaway, taking advantage of the collection discount which I feel should also be offered to those dining in.
Hopefully my next Mowchack review will be a more positive one.

Just made the switch after having Jalsagor takeaways for 10 years, and so glad we did! Ordered lamb pathia, King prawn sag, chicken tikka nawala, chicken tikka Archari, various rice dishes all delicious and fluffy, a couple of different narns, chips and Bombay aloo.

You do receive complimentary poppadoms, but we only received three and one dip, so definitely order a couple more and some extra side dips if needed. Only complaint was the chips being a little soggy but still tasty, possibly due to transport.

We’ve tried two other Indians as well and nothing has come close to this place. Meat was Beautifully flavoured and cooked to perfection. The king prawns were absolutely huge!

Thank you, will be back soon!

A very good Indian Eatery in Hereford.

I’ve eaten at Mowchak many times over the last few years, both in the restaurant and takeaway.

The food has always been of an excellent standard – well cooked and seasoned and generous in portion.

The service has always been excellent. The owner is extremely personable, taking the time to chat and charm and makes it a very welcoming experience. Some of the other waiters could benefit from being a bit more attentive though, as we were waiting to make our order for a while and were not given plates for our poppadum. Food was quick to arrive and all very fresh.

Unfortunately the restaurant has often been quite quiet when I have visited. On the last occasion we were seated near the front and it was very quiet except for the sound of the aircon which made it quite awkward until the music was put on. Previously we have been seated at the back which feels less exposed and it’s great to see the chefs at work and has a lovely atmosphere when more people are in. The restaurant is comfortable and deserves to see more footfall!

Excellent food and largely excellent service. Great portion sizes and value for money with lots of veggie options. Huge credit to the owner who is such a lovely man and to the brilliant kitchen team. Will be back again soon!

I’d 100% recommend Mowchak if you’re looking for great Indian food! Was very relaxed, clean and modern inside. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend the Bombay special – can’t remember exactly what it was called but it had chicken tikka and a delicious sauce full of spices.

First thing first this is not a Indian restaurant, this is a Bangladeshi restaurants.
The restaurant in Hereford which claim that they are Indian restaurant, they are not either they are bangladeshi or they are pakistani restaurant.

The food taste here was good not up to the mark.
But I can come here again to have my dinner..

Went to Mowchak on my own and was made to feel extremely welcome by all the staff, this for me was a huge bonus as it’s never easy going to a restaurant alone for some food. I ordered a sheek kebab starter followed by a lamb dopiaza naan and pilau rice , starter came and it was absolutely beautiful, really fresh beautifully presented and tasted delicious, the guys serving me were fantastic and they all came to check I was okay d had everything I needed, again fantastic, then came my main, great portion sizes and piping hot, extremely fresh and absolutely delicious, I can highly recommend Mowchak as one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of visiting, from the details of the table settings, to the freshness of the food and the attention you get from the waiters it was 5 star heaven, it’s not often I can write a review that merits 5 stars but I can genuinely say this restaurant most definitely merits the full 5 stars I have given it, I will 100% go back, even if I am again on my own as I know I’ll be looked after! It’s a beautiful little Gem of a restaurant and a definite must visit if in Hereford

The food was okay, but not what I was expecting. It could have been much spicier. The staff were friendly but not in your face, so that’s a plus.

What no-one has said is that they don’t have an alcohol licence. But they are happy for you to take in your own.

Unfortunately, I was the only one eating so hence the poir mark for atmosphere.

HEALTH HAZARD!
I’ve been coming to this place for years but I will never go again. Not only did I chew and almost choke on a staple during my main, I had to pay £31 for the privilege! Upon telling the staff of the unexpected bit of sharp metal concealed within my food I was then not believed by the waiter and made to pay for the food that was not contaminated with sharp bits of metal as it was the ‘best he could do’.
Apart from having a staple in my food I am so disappointed with the way my complaint was handled, although it wasn’t said explicitly, I was made to feel that i had planted it in my own food!
Please to not give this place your custom but if you do and it isn’t up to scratch do not expect any proper form of redress. This place needs to seriously reconsider it’s handling of customer complaints.
