Waitress was ok, charged us for a drink we didn’t get, nit duoer friendly, and would not give us separate checks ( 3 couples). That makes zero sense since if we each had our own table, we’d all have separate checks! Had to sit and figure out who pays what!
A $10 cover charge for this winter fest but the day we went was free.
Skip to the main part; I ordered my typical double jack and coke in a short glass. I was presented with what tasted like strictly coca cola, and I know what a double should taste like. I asked about the $15 charge for the double and was answered with a 5-year old’s response explaining that “it’s just the way the system rings things up..” excuse me? A double was $9.50… there was an additional $4.75 linked to the same line item for the drink so I asked about it. None of which makes sense.. especially considering I got less than a double poor.
Now, the food: I ordered a $24 bowl of “lobster mac” – EXTREMELY Dissatisfied and disappointed with the meal. There were two very small chunks of lobster tail in a giant PUDDLE of cheese with noodles. Just a big bowl of Mac and cheese SOUP. My complaint isn’t about the price; I knew what to expect before I walked into the place. But for $24 you’d think I would get a few more chunks of lobster. Nope, just 2 bite size pieces to disappoint the night. The server did not take us seriously as adults and I highly do NOT recommend coming here if toure looking for hospitality and good times. They’re as strict as a prison and expect you to cater into their weird ambiance. Mind you, we were not there during a crowded time. There were maybe 10 people total in the establishment, including servers.
I wish I could give a more negative review.
Rain or shine concerts all the time. Indoor outdoor music right next to Fox lake if you have a boat you can just drive up have a meal and leave little bars all over the place. Service is great very tender to your needs
Parking is great. Will always be going back.
The food was fantastic! We loved the burgers, chili, pretzel bites, and wings – real comfort food that hit the spot. Their seasonal cocktails are also amazing. Highly recommend the Winter White Russian and Jack Frost for anyone visiting without kids.
What really makes this place special is how family-friendly it is during the daytime. Our kids loved the atmosphere, and we never felt rushed. It’s such a unique winter activity for families looking to do something festive outside the typical holiday events.
Staff was friendly, the vibe was great, and the entire experience felt warm and welcoming from start to finish. If you’re looking for a cozy winter outing in Chicagoland, Broken Oar’s Arctic Winter Bar is a must!
