Wow! I cannot express how much I loved this restaurant.
The margaritas – perfect and fresh.
The food- exceptional. We highly suggest the pork shoulder tacos and the corn.
The service- outstanding. Sonya and Ashley were amazing and took care of us.

Highly suggest the outdoor seating – it was a little quieter and still gave a great vibe.

An absolutely amazing experience all around… service, food, and ambiance. We had Christmas dinner here and it was perfect. Super friendly staff from the time you walk in. Food was outstanding and cooked to perfection. The duck special was so delicious. Great vide throughout the restaurant. Decorated nicely for the holidays, as well.
Highly recommend and can’t wait for the Gilbert location to open!!

From out of town and first time, dining in at the Mission. I wanted to try the shrimp tacos. The tacos themselves were very good.
Did not find the sauce appealing, though remind me of a thousand island dressing type. Overall, a bit pricey for the meal, service was very good and the ambiance inside and out is just amazing.

The Mission is an incredible experience. Everything we had was absolutely amazing. We started with the tableside guacamole which was fresh, and tasted perfect. Presentation of all our tacos was amazing. The Pork with the tacos coming on the salt block was delicious. I highly recommend you visit. The drinks were incredible as well

We came here with our family an 8 top and they accommodated us wonderfully! We had a reservation and had excellent service. Most of us had drinks and they were all delicious! I had the steak tacos and wow it hit the spot! The meat is incredibly tender and full of flavor. We all loved the guacamole as well which we got 2 orders of. The energy here is very modern. We will definitely come back again. Definitely a great experience, service, food, and atmosphere!

The food and service here were both outstanding. Our server Alfonso did an incredible presentation of the menu, gave some great background info on the chef, and made some amazing recommendations to some items that I personally wouldn’t have considered looking at the menu myself. He was able to passionately describe most of things on the menu that enhanced the overall appeal and genuinely raised excitement for each dish that was ordered. I’m visiting from Dallas, Tx and he also went out of his way to hand write a list for more places to go in the area. Impeccable service for a brief lunch stop.

The presentation was brilliant and the cocktails were very refreshing. However the food was served lukewarm at best and our server failed to check on us and we attempted multiple times to waive her Down. The manager was very nice and offered to replace the food. The Mission has potential for higher 4-5 stars.

The mission review..

Our visit started off strong and we were excited. The atmosphere is beautiful and has a nice feel to it. We made a last minute reservation and there was only patio seating available. The patio space is well enclosed and comfortable with the fire going. We were here December 27th for reference.

We ordered the Mission Guacamole and the Crispy Pork & Cola Lime Glaze for starters.
The Guac was great and made table side. The Crispy Pork was underwhelming, but ok.

For our main dishes we stuck to the Taco options and Ordered the Roasted Pork Shoulder and the Tecate Skirt Steak.

The Pork Shoulder was really delicious and had just the right about of spice to it. The Tecate Skirt Steak was not great, but was edible.

Overall our visit was just ok and definitely not worth the $115 bill. The tables are so small, we literally had to balance plates on top of each other to make It fit and it made it very awkward to eat any of the shared dishes (guacamole and Crispy Pork appetizers). We were seated so close to the table next to us the servers were not able to fit between them without knocking over items on the other table.

I ordered a Diet Coke to drink and they charged $6 for it and never re-filled it. The other person dining with me ordered a michelada and it was $7. The price difference definitely felt off for a soda (in a small glass with ice, not even a full 12ozcan) and an alcoholic beverage especially when we tried to get a refill on the soda 3 times and they never served it after the initial glass.

Luckily the couple we were almost sharing a table with next to us were really chill/cool and we made the best of it. They also waited 20 minutes for a drink they ordered and it finally came as they were bringing the bill out.

Definitely not worth the hype. It was tasty, but the poor service and the overpriced items kind of ruined it for us. But that is Old town in a nutshell these days.

If you have cash to burn or an ex’s credit card to use… come try out the Mission. If not… hit up something outside of Old Town.

Sorry for the crappy pics…. I didn’t really care enough to fix the lighting.

Oh, the salsa was delicious … kind of smokey.. little spice… it was good.

We visited The Mission in Scottsdale after landing, with my husband, daughter-in-law, and grandson. It was just before the dinner hour, and while the restaurant itself had a nice setting, the service unfortunately left much to be desired.

The hostess looked exhausted and not very welcoming, and our waitress greeted us with a tone right from the start. When my grandson asked if there were other drink options besides what she listed, she curtly responded, “What I told you is what we have, nothing else.” He then decided on a Shirley Temple, which arrived without any syrup and tasted off. When we mentioned it, she replied, “I made it and oh maybe the syrup is out,” but didn’t seem too concerned. The only time we saw her smile was when she handed my husband the check.

On the positive side, the mahi mahi tacos were delicious. However, there were no food options for toddlers, and overall the service didn’t feel friendly or attentive. Considering the cost of dining out, it just wasn’t worth it. For us, this won’t be a place we try again.
