If you want an authentic taste of Nice, La Maison de Marie is a must. The courtyard vibe is unmatched—cozy, hidden, and full of charm.
The Daube Niçoise was incredibly tender and rich, and the Petits Farcis were seasoned perfectly. Paired with a great glass of wine, it was easily the best meal of our trip.
As for the service? It was “typically French”—a bit brusque and not exactly warm, but it almost added to the local authenticity!

Food was exquisite! I had a ceviche for appetizer and grilled sea bass with a parsnip mash for entree. My husband had the beef tartare as an appetizer and the lamb with couscous for entree, everything was delicious and well made. Service was excellent!

We didn’t have a reservation but they graciously sat us under the canopy as we arrived when they first opened. We were immediately served focaccia bread. We ordered the squash blossom appetizer and it was light and tasty. We ordered lobster bisque and the house special beef stew. Everything was amazing. I strongly recommend trying this place with great service and a great atmosphere.

Fantastic duck and dessert(one crème brûlée and one tiramisu). Friendly service with good space between the courses to savor the atmosphere. Just a minor comment, the price of the duck on the menu outside is €27, but €28 on the inside menu……..
Great quality food and very good value for money.

The setting of La Maison de Marie is very pleasant — cozy and elegant, with a lovely atmosphere. However, the food was rather average. The duck magret was quite tough, while the sea bass was nicely prepared.
Service-wise, I expected a bit more from a restaurant of this level. The waiter dropped the corkscrew several times while opening the wine and even accidentally bumped into my wife. Overall, it was not a terrible experience, but definitely below expectations.

I have never written a review before. That being said, this restaurant merits one just based off of how horrible the experience was. To preface, my girlfriend and I are from Canada and came to this restaurant with high hopes. We got the basil pasta, nicoise beef ravioli and tartare. The food itself was unrefined: pasta was pure salt, ravioli was good but the beef was oversalted as well, and the tartare had WAY too much mustard.

On top of this, when the bill arrived, we checked and saw that an additional surcharge of 7 Euros was added for a bottle of water, that we neither asked for nor agreed to pay for if it was ever offered. Looking around at all the other tables (all locals…), they all had unmarked bottles of tap water that we didn’t pay attention to was different from our own. We had a lengthy back and forth with the waiter, who after confrontation was able to confirm that the question to decide the type of water we would like to enjoy during the meal was “Still or sparkling?”.

She mentioned that she asked that same question to the other patrons as well, who supposedly gave her a secret option C, being TAP water. We were punished for not knowing the secret third option that they have at this restaurant, by a 7 euro charge for water. Mind you, we have visited about 8 other restaurants since coming to Nice, and after asking for STILL water at each location recieved the very same tap water that everyone else drinks (without any surcharge).

If you are a foreigner, the service (and possibly bill) will be unfair and unpleasantly surprising.

The problem this place has is just too many tables. The staff is very fast but the my duck was barely warm when it came. Too many tables to serve will result in degraded experience. The Truffle pasta was ok, but the cream sauce a bit too loose. Overall mediocre with potential.

Best restaurant we had in our trip to Paris and southern France! The food quality was excellent, the service was efficient, and the secluded garden feel of the outdoors dining area (especially with the gazebo ) was enchanting. Beautiful and very tasty salad as a starter that included the regional specialty of zucchini flowers. Best loop (sea bass) and generous portion. The steamed broccoli and cauliflower with a lemon sauce on the side was so good. Must call for reservations which seemed very needed! Our hotel called for us. It was recommended in RS travel guide and also mentioned to us by other guests at our hotel.

TikTok recommended this place for their truffle pasta and we were convinced by the reviews and photos before deciding to drop by for a meal.

The vibes of the restaurant was great, waiters were ok but unfortunate to say that the food was terrible. The truffle pasta tasted like an entire plate of salt – no taste of truffle at all; just salty. Was hoping that the waiters would come in to check on us with regards to the food but they didn’t check in at all even during payment.

If you feel like you have lots of cash to spare, here’s £30 for a plate of salt.

Best restaurant in Nice. Beautiful location. The few negative reviews are frankly ridiculous. The food here is delicious. The rabbit stew, the stuffed vegetables, beef stew. All perfect. The service is typical French which I mean in a good way. The food is meant to be enjoyed. This is not a tourist trap. Most of the diners were local French, that should speak for itself.
