A beautiful place for a cosy, Scottish meal. For starter we had portobello mushroom stuffed with goats cheese and the Cullen Skink. Both fantastic but the Cullen Skink topped it – creamy and warming! For mains we had the steak and seabass moilee. The steak was perfectly cooked and the crispy, salty onion rings on top were out of this world. The coconut curry sauce with the seabass was perfectly paired too.

The service, by the mother of the chefs, was brilliant. It was personal and made for a lovely atmosphere.

The building itself is beautifully decorated. Hard to say if it was original panelling or just brilliantly fitted. It was super cosy too!

I would 100% recommend this hidden gem for a romantic meal. No kids allowed for the evening meal session which was a treat (they are allowed from 12 until 2 if you want to take your kids – we didn’t )

Overall, outstanding!

Went to Scotland on a solo trip. Came to Dunbar for the day and stopped in here for dinner. Little did I realize this would be one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Each part of the meal is made with care and everything was extremely fresh. The service and environment was outstanding.
I did the three course meal and it was above and beyond. If you are in Edinburgh and want to venture out to a neat seaside town with some good history or if you’re coming to Dunbar in general I highly recommend eating here. Amazing.

Fabulous food and service. Very cosy atmosphere, lovely old building and location a stones throw away from the harbour. All courses were excellent. Value excellent. Highly recommend wee gem.

We stumbled upon this place after a round of golf. It was arguably the best meal of our whole golf trip… and we had many good meals.
Family run, friendly and absolutely delicious. The whipped goat cheese and beet appetizer was fantastic. The Scottish lobster tasted so amazing. The cod was so light, flaky and in an incredible sauce. The desserts, off the charts. All accompanied with tasty wine and great service. Cannot recommend enough!!

If you only read one thing: try the venison, it was incredible. No photo can describe the texture and flavour. Perfectly tender but with a slight crisp to the outside.

The whole menu is excellent and the service is great too. The staff are attentive and friendly without being over the top.

The atmosphere is relaxed, plenty of chat and quiet music but never overwhelming. 100% recommend The Creel. Not cheap but good value.

You can park overnight at the nearby leisure centre. We left the car and got a taxi home so we could both have wine, which I’d highly recommend.

Hands down, the best meal of our Scotland trip! We lucked out getting a table without a reservation. Our server (the mother of the sibling owners) was the sweetest woman, and she patiently guided me through eating lobster for the first time. The food was absolutely out of this world. If I could leave 6 stars, I would.

Wow, what a fantastic experience! The food is exquisite, so good that we went there twice in a row, even though we had to go at 5:30 PM as it was fully booked. The Scotch egg starter was extraordinary, as well as the beef fillet, the risotto and the raspberry dessert. Most of the dishes are glutenfree. They also have a nice wine list. The staff is lovely, I definitely recommend going, advanced booking might be necessary, especially during the weekends.

Fantastic meal in The Creel restaurant last evening. Locally sourced produce prepared and cooked to perfection with presentation to match. Quality wine at a reasonable cost to complement the meal, finished off with a dram of malt whisky.
5 stars for team Creel.
