Visited Won Kok Restaurant for breakfast on 21 Dec 2025. Ordered several Dim Sum and it was very disappointing. The outlook can be promising but the taste is really can not make it, all dim sum served was cool not even hot. Likewise the customer service was not good either. Environment was also not clean. I will not visit again unless the restaurant change the chef.

Mexican kid in the front window taking order very unprofessional if u dont wanna work in customer service find a new job. It was my 1st time going tonite and the experience was anything less then great and this workers attitude was a major key factor in that. We ordered chicken dumplings but on our receipt was mentioned as dim sum im also pretty sure it wasn’t chicken either because I only eat chicken an now I have food poisoning due to what ever was in said dim sum(even tho I ordered chicken dumplings) I also order chicken fried rice that was good because it was actually what I ordered.also got orange chicken thats was also good like befor because its what i ordered. I wanted chow mien just regular no protein(no chicken no pork no meat no shrimp) and all I got was straight noodles. No vegetables just a box of noodles. The staff on the other side of the restaurant were attentive an a lot more professional. Also had the chicken won tong soup an that was alright but not convinced that was chicken either

Watch out your bill, they OVERCHARGE and no one wants to admit it. THE WORSE customer service. -5 stars.

We did do a quick calculation at the window because the price was kinda higher than expected, but then we figured with the sales tax it’s only off like $2-3,i though I might not remember the sale tax rate correctly so I checked online LA county it’s 9.75%. But I got home, I wanted to double check how they came out with the number so quick without any calculator so I pulled up the menu again. And write my own calculations on the box , and found out they OVERCHARGED ME by $9.80. Because the menu said it’s SALE TAX INCLUDED. So I figured it would be better to edit the credit card amount on the same day to avoid any fee, so I called them as courtesy to have them update the total.

When we called and the lady insisted her calculation is correct, and I asked “how did you get $39.20” She hung up the phone on me. So I called back, a guy answered and he said whatever the lady is saying is correct and RRFUSEbto update it, so I said i wouldn’t waste my time to call back it’s it’s correct, the guy said I wasted his time, and then I said this is not the right way to treat customer, and we will dispute it until you correct the amount, not because I care about the extra $9.80 just because the don’t care and overcharged customer for a long time and no one would complain or report them about it. >___<

Left side was my calculations and right side it’s the to go lady’s calculations in black one.

How did 8 large chicken buns ($8×2.5= $20) and 8 large small chicken bun (8×1.2= 9.6) $ added up to be $39.2?

The rest of the items were okay it automatically round up like 3 sesame ball (3x $1.2= $3.6)
And 3 salty dumpling (3X $1.2= $3.6) and it’s $7.2 abs thru would AUTOMATICALLY ROUDN UP to $7.30, and 3 of Curry chicken pastry (3X$1.70= $5.1). But the lady wrote $5.20

So this is what We ordered, (or we actually got)

8x large chicken buns (8x$2.5=$20.00 )
8x small chicken buns (8x$1.20= $ 9.60)
10 x shrimp har gow (but we got 5 har gow x $1.1 = $5.5 and 5x shu mai 5x$10= $5, this calculation is the only correct one but items were wrong))
3 sesame ball (3x $1.2= $3.6)
3 fried pork ball (3X $1.2= $3.6)
3 Curry chicken pastry(3X$1.70= $5.1)
1 chicken sticky rice (1x $3.5= $3.5)

I wouldn’t able to check every single item and qty until we got home, thinking if the lady does it so quick she should be correct, but I was WRONG…

I should have written this review way back then. If you like authentic oriental food, look no further! We drive 250 miles one way to enjoy Won Kok delicious food and pastries. Mike is always there making sure you are taking care for. Won Kok is nestled in Chinatown – Los Angeles just off Broadway. Their parking spot can be challenging, but we always parked across the street for around $5.00. What do I suggest? Their complimentary tea, their rice cake, Kung Pao Chicken, Chow Mein with BBQ Pork, Pad Thai, and dumplings are an excellent choice. They have over 70 plus meal combinations!
Greetings from Phoenix Mike!!See you soon!

The staff seemed rushed and didn’t offer much warmth or friendliness. While the food is inexpensive, the flavors were disappointing, and some of the dim sum arrived cold. I’d suggest looking elsewhere for a better dining experience if you are a foodie

Food was good, prices reasonable. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall, may not seem appealing, but the food tastes authentic. They have good customer service. The egg-roll was served cold, something I’m not used to…
Bathrooms were not clean, so we didn’t use them.

I read other people’s reviews and saw the rating so decided to try this place out. The restaurant isn’t the prettiest and looks old but the food is so good. There was a consistent stream of people in the restaurant and at the walk up order window. The portion sizes are huge for a resonable price. The favor is excellent-juicy, balance and fresh!

Everything we ordered was cold and the server was not exactly accommodating when we complained and asked for just a few of our items to be brought hot. We ordered approximately 20 items from the dim sum menu and everything brought out was either room temp or cold. It may have been good if it was hot, but it was mediocre at best. The egg roll from the menu was hot and pretty good but by the time it came we were over it with all the cold food.
Atmosphere is mid/fine, kind of what you’d expect I guess? Truly don’t recommend trying this.
