have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Kakinuma in Eaux-Vives neighborhood in Geneva, Switzerland.
We had an excellent dinner at this sushi restaurant! The meal started with seared eel (served on rice with a flavorful soy sauce and some boiled vegetables)—absolutely delicious. Then came a selection of sushi, both seared and raw, all generously portioned and expertly prepared with the freshest fish. The tempura selection, featuring shrimp and vegetables, was also fantastic—crispy and light.

The food was good, with high-quality fish and well-prepared dishes. Service was attentive and friendly, contributing positively to the overall experience. However, the prices are very high compared to what is offered. The atmosphere of the restaurant doesn’t quite match the premium pricing, making the overall experience feel somewhat unbalanced. While the meal was enjoyable, the value for money could be improved.

It is the best Japanese restaurant of Geneva. With outstanding service and the most delicious Japanese food. Mr and Mrs. Kakinuma remember their guests even by phone, which is rare in our days. Lately I always buy it for take away, however it has no impact on the quality of food. Both the quality and aesthetics are exceptional.

I’d consider us Genevois residents fortunate to have this good, high quality Japanese restaurant in town. Kakinuma’s sushi and sashimi are amazing – melts in your mouth with a balanced, vinegarised rice. The ebi tempura are also perfectly executed, crunchy, light and fresh. Professional and warm service rounds off the experience everytime we come by. Keep up the great work.
