Built as the Armour Smokehouse in 1906 this legendary Jackson landmark is a true icon of Mississippi’s rich heritage. The old Iron Horse Grill burned down mysteriously twice. It was left abandoned after a fire in 1999. Fifteen years later we’ve brought it back up from the ashes like never before! Our open kitchen and live music is the Mississippi way of living.

An awesome stop, with a ton of character! The menu at The Iron Horse Grill has something for everybody. Never been somewhere you can get fried chicken, enchiladas, and praline cheesecake all at the same place. Plenty of seating, and evidently has live music on the weekends. Service was super kind and quick, and was not loud at all. Will visit again next time I am in Jackson!

We had such a wonderful experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing waitress, Tara! From the moment our group of five sat down, she greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel completely welcome. She was attentive without hovering, made sure our drinks were always full, and handled all of our requests with patience and professionalism.
Tara was knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and kept everything running smoothly—even with a larger group like ours. Our food came out perfectly timed, and she checked in just enough to make sure we had everything we needed.
It’s rare to find service that truly elevates a dining experience, but Tara absolutely did. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for her again!

I recently attended a surprise birthday party for my uncle at The Iron Horse Grille, and it was an excellent experience all around. The food was delicious – everyone enjoyed their meals, and the flavors really stood out. The atmosphere was perfect, with a warm, welcoming vibe and nice music playing in the background that wasn’t too loud. We had a private room upstairs for the event, which gave us just the right amount of space and privacy. Our waitress did a fantastic job – she was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a great place to celebrate, and I’d highly recommend it for both special occasions and a great night out.

I am grateful that they did. The food was fantastic. I had the steak and shrimp fajitas and I give them a tan out of 10 the steak was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were fabulous and the veggies, beans, rice and side items were all just fabulous and the chips and dip was as good or better than any Mexican restaurant.
Equally as great was the atmosphere and service. My waitress, Victoria, took great care of me and checked to make sure that the food was to my liking as well as providing just the right amount of attention.
I look forward to stopping in again the next time I’m in Jackson. Maybe then, I’ll save room for dessert.

I’ll start off the review saying our food was wonderful! Every meal was tasty and plated beautifully. Our main complaints are 1. It was FREEZING inside. Everyone around us was shivering. 2. Our server was wonderful and kind! However, I went to take my three young children to the restroom and entered the stall our server had just left, and someone (assuming the server) had just finished vaping. The smell was so intense and smoke still hung in the air, sending my toddler into a coughing fit that lasted a few minutes and we had to leave the stall. 3. The music was incredible! Our whole family throughly enjoyed the wonderful jazz music but the volume was insane! Truly couldn’t even hear ourselves trying to talk and it took away from how beautiful the music was. Every time the poor singer spoke, the sound was so loud that the whole dining room jumped.
Overall, wonderful food and atmosphere but could use a little tweaking for a more comfortable experience…. And no employees vaping in the restroom.

Great place. The ribs were meaty and done right. The love music had the right amount of variety. Carla (I hope I got her name right) was very helpful with our orders and attentive to our questions. She also recommended us to visit the wax museum upstairs. Great meal and great history. Thanks.

A spacious comfortable restaurant, Tex mex flare and decor and excellent service.
Famous for their seasoned chips and salsa, and queso options
They have a daily lunch special.
Known for their Tex-mex dishes, the stars are those menu items.
Excellent chimichangas, always seasoned-well components.
That Ribs are smokey and lightly sauced.
The sides are seasoned and plentiful. The Mexican street corn is a must try! Sweet corn kernels, cheese, Tex mex spices and made with love!
Crispy, salty fries. Full bar with great drinks and a very friendly staff and good service.
