Reviews
Not from the area, I was caught off guard by the 1 flavor type of pizza but we barreled ahead to enjoy what was being served. It is such a popular spot that even 30 minutes after they were open, we were already standing in a line.
All of the people who already ordered and obviously enjoying their slices were a testament to what we were about to try out. We were not disappointed! Wow.
I never would have thought this combination would be my thing but Cheese Board pulled off an absolutely amazing topping choice. Wow.
So happy that we stopped in to try to out this spot. Also! This cola was wonderful! Who needs Coca Cola anyway? Cheese Board found an amazing replacement!
Absolutely would come back to try again 🙂
The pizza itself was genuinely bad — low-quality ingredients, poorly made, and absolutely not worth the price. That alone would have been enough for a negative review.
What really makes this place unacceptable, though, is the environment and the way people behave there. The atmosphere felt tense, judgmental, and hostile rather than relaxed or welcoming. Instead of feeling like a neighborhood pizza spot, it felt like a space where customers are watching each other and looking for reasons to intervene or complain.
During my visit, a customer was publicly confronted and shamed in front of others over a minor issue, which created an awkward and stressful scene for everyone nearby. Several people joined in rather than minding their own business. It completely killed any chance of enjoying the meal and made the entire place feel hostile and unpleasant.
Going out to eat should feel easy and enjoyable. This place felt stressful, confrontational, and uninviting from start to finish. Between the bad food and the toxic atmosphere, I can’t imagine choosing to come back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or peaceful dining experience.
They serve one style of pizza a day, and when it’s gone, it’s gone. Today’s slice with baby chard and kale, leek, mozzarella, ricotta salata, garlic olive oil, and citrus zest was fresh, unique, and seriously good.
I’m usually a simple pizza guy, but this one delivered. Absolutely worth the wait. A true Berkeley staple.
overly inflated.
Only 1 pizza flavour per day.
Line up for a few minutes.
Optional cost Green sauce is good but not necessary.
Music band at noon.
Worker owned
You are served a one and only (vegetarian/vegan) pizza of the day in an amazing ambience. The choice of crust and toppings is simply delicious. The pizzeria knows what they are doing, trust their choices and give it a try.
P.S. don’t forget to get a side of zesty green sauce to further elevate the flavor profile.
