We started with a salad, which was excellent, and the “surf and turf” appetizer was a standout. I had high expectations for the entrees. I ordered the seabass, and my husband had the Cioppino. While the seabass was fine, I found the rice part was a bit too sweet, which masked the natural flavor of the fish—it should have been the star of the dish. The Cioppino, on the other hand, was quite spicy but flavorful and visually appealing.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the evening. Would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a cozy, unique dining experience.
What I did not enjoy so much about InGrano: The extremely small food portions for the price you pay. Mind you, we only got 2 appetizers- the Octopus Tacos & the “Surf & Turf” (Waygu Meatballs). The Octopus Tacos are listed on the menu as “mini crispy tacos”- it is expected for the portion size of the mini tacos to be small. However, the tacos are so mini where they fit in the hands of an elf on the shelf. For splitting two appetizers, the food did not fill me up. I would have loved to order more, however, had to be at Navy Corps-Memorial Stadium for the game. The Waygu meatballs were oversized on top of the focaccia bread; the focaccia bread could have been cut into bigger slices, and would look much more appealing.
The espresso martini was good, but was not great. I am a bartender/head server myself, and I felt as the espresso martini tasted a little “burnt” and could have used a bit of sweetness to it. I don’t believe Espresso Martini’s should be creamy or extremely sweet, but maybe if a touch of flavor were added to it, it wouldn’t have tasted so burnt.
Based on the website, it looks like the restaurant is Michelin-recommended. Typically Michelin Star Restaurants have a concept where their portion sizes to their dishes are small. So if you are looking to eat heavy appetizers, maybe consider InGrano for dinner or select somewhere else.
Service started off slow and the cocktails were mediocre, though our appetizers were quite good. The real disappointment came with the Wellington — it was well done, tough, and stringy, with no pink center at all. When I told the server, she took the plate away but soon returned with the same dish, explaining that the chef believed it was cooked properly. I found this response dismissive and insulting.
Eventually, the chef and manager came out to justify the preparation. After some back and forth, they took away the plate and they did comp the entrée, as well as cocktails, and wine, but the damage was done. Being told that I was “wrong” about my own meal left a bad taste.
I’m giving two stars because some dishes were enjoyable, but the lack of basic customer service — acknowledging the issue and offering a sincere apology — made this a disappointing experience.
To start we ordered the Hamachi Crudo. This was very light, the flavors really complimented the fish which was clearly very fresh. (My husband is very picky with fish, does not like any semblance of “fishy” flavor and loved this). We also tasted the mini octopus tacos and wow these were great down to the blue corn shells. We also ordered the Taste of Spain platter and I cannot stress enough how delightful this was. The Iberico Ham was so high quality and the muhammara will knock your socks off. I could buy quarts of this muhammara.
For our mains we ordered the squid ink tagliatelle and the wagyu short rib wellington. The squid ink pasta was so well complimented by the trapanese sauce. I was (clearly) very full by now but did my best to enjoy as much of this meal as possible. The wellington was delicious and so worth the price. The demi glace wasn’t overwhelming and was a nice addition.
We ordered wine, the wine menu was diverse and had great selections for a variety of tastes. Their cocktail menu looked so interesting, I will be glad to try some of these out next time.
Overall, I highly recommend InGrano. It was a lovely experience overall and we already can’t wait to return to try out some other plates and especially to get that muhammara I’ve been dreaming about.
The ambiance is lovely in every room, and the private chef’s room is so fun to watch the talented chefs cook.
They have lots of fun experiences on the menu such as the smoky old fashioned that comes out with wisps of smoke. The Garden Grove is delicious too.
The appetizers appeal so you can sample more of the eclectic menu! I have ordered the Hamachi Crudo many times and it never disappoints. Update November 2025: they just switched up their menu and they have even more appetizers than before!
If you are feeling up for a large meal the Waygu beef Wellington is truly a treat. We’ve sampled the Lamb Pesto, the Duck Carbonara, and the Cioppino as well. Next time I want to try some of the vegetarian options at InGrano, the stuffed papardelle or the saffron risotto.
I like going here as I know it’s locally owned and the staff is SO NICE. truly such a welcoming environment and a special place. If you’re weighing options for a special occasion dinner or just a relaxing Friday out, I recommend InGrano for sure!
