As for the food the flavors were there but the portion sizes did not justify the price. We shared the cheese and chicken empanadas as appetizers and while they tasted good they were extremely small. At fifteen and sixteen dollars for two bite empanadas they were definitely not worth it in my opinion.
I ordered the Ropa Vieja and flavor wise it was excellent. The shredded beef was tender juicy and packed with flavor. The onions garlic and sofrito beans were all well done and the rice soaked up the beef juices perfectly. The plantains were cooked just right with a slight crisp and not overly sweet. That said the portion size for a thirty-dollar plate was very underwhelming. The sofrito beans were literally a spoonful which was disappointing.
Others in our group ordered dishes like the half chicken and short rib and while they enjoyed the flavor the feedback was the same. Portions were small and hard to justify when you are paying thirty six to nearly fifty dollars per plate
Service struggled a bit due to how busy it was. Drinks and water refills took a long time and you could tell the staff was running nonstop, trying to keep up.
Overall Habana is a fun spot for birthdays and large group dinners where the energy matters more than comfort. The food tastes good BUUUT between the noise level, portion sizes, and pricing it is not a place I would personally rush back to. Good for the right occasion, just set expectations going in.
The Cuban-style food was amazing, and the staff were super friendly and always smiling.
The only downside was that it was a bit loud inside, so it wasn’t the best spot for a business chat.
There were 6 of us, and we got an appetizer set, two main dishes including a steak, plus sides like mac & cheese and fries. Everything was filling and we left totally satisfied.
Great start to our trip in Irvine!
I was very impressed with the chicken. Very light and tasty. Just the right amount for one person.
The paella smelled great, but I would reccomend a different type of sausauge with more flavor, with some kick in it.
Service
The service was great. The bartender/server kept my water cup filled. I truly appreciate the attention to detail.
Atmosphere
Very nice atmosphere. Since most people were at the buffet, it made it a more intimate private experience with our group.
Looking forward to trying out the buffet menu in the future.
The highlight of the night was Izzy, our server. Friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient despite how busy it was. He walked us through the entire menu, made thoughtful recommendations, and even customized the dishes to match our dietary needs. That kind of service truly makes a difference.
Highly recommended.
My favorites from the buffet are the media noche sandwich and the banana with ice cream dessert, which they prepare for you in the little outdoor patio.
