We stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Alcoa and while the look, feel, and vibe haven’t changed (which I love), the experience left us underwhelmed.

The store is pretty, well-stocked, and had those great vintage farm pieces hanging from the ceiling. The dining room still has that classic CB charm too ~ the only thing missing are the oil lamps that used to sit on the tables. I always loved those.

When we arrived, it was pretty busy. The host barely spoke ~ just asked “how many” and walked off. He wiped down a table, came back for menus, and we followed him to be seated. Not exactly a warm welcome.

Our waitress came and took our full order, brought drinks, but no bread. I mention that because their new practice seems to be bringing bread first & we watched her do it for two other tables while we waited. Another server delivered our food. Our waitress never checked in, never asked how things were, and never offered refills (my husband could’ve used one). I had to stop her to ask for jelly, which she dropped off, then disappeared until she brought the check.

Food-wise: I had the Herb Roasted Chicken dinner. The potatoes were cold, the broccoli tasted bitter, and the chicken was just “meh.” My husband had the meatloaf and said it was “ok.”

The atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect from Cracker Barrel, but the service and food missed the mark. Honestly, the “redo” Cracker Barrel needs may not be the décor ~ but the staff.

I used to be a regular at Cracker Barrel, but stopped going because of the menu changes, slow service, smaller portions and price increases over the last 2 years. After the logo controversy, we decided to give Cracker Barrel another try today. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment.

We were seated to a dirty table that was never wiped off. We were handed a new menu that had coffee stains all over it. We ordered the food and the wait was fairly long, even though there weren’t that many people. There were 3 of us and they brought a basket with only 2 small biscuits. The waitress didn’t return to fill our glasses or coffee the entire time. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast with Sirloin Tips. This used to include a Sirloin Steak, 3 Eggs and Apples, Hashbrowns and Grits. Now, it’s ham or Sirloin tips and 2 sides, no grits and costs more. A meal that used to cost $20 out the door leaving a $5 tip, now costs, $5 more.

The food arrived lukewarm and didn’t look that great presentation wise. It was ok. It wasn’t like it used to be. The hash-brown casserole was tasteless and the sirloin tips were over-cooked with no seasoning.

Regardless of logo changes or not, Cracker Barrel isn’t a value anymore and quite frankly, the food isn’t that great. I don’t ask for a lot, but I think I should have a clean table, a clean menu, and hot food that tastes good. And it wouldn’t hurt if the waitress refilled the drinks once.

It’s a shame, but I don’t see Cracker Barrel making it. I know that I won’t be back. Cracker Barrel had millions of dollars in free advertising from all this controversy. People will probably try it again just to see how it’s changed. People may give it ONE shot out of curiosity, but they won’t come back for overpriced, mediocre, lukewarm food.

Worst service we’ve ever had.food took forever we got the country fried steak and eggs over easy. We both asked for gravy on the side. It came with gravy on top and eggs well done. Looked like the food sat under the warmer to long and still was not hot. I asked for grits and got hash browns The table behind us spilled and broke a glass and they left but they left the broken glass there well over a half an hour. It wasn’t that busy in there either. Just glad nobody got hurt. We never received any napkins so I got up and went to the kitchen and asked for some. I have a bad hip and wasn’t fun walking through the restaurant. Wasn’t pleasant at all.

Every time I go to Cracker Barrel, I’m greeted with the most amazing group of people.I normally request certain servers at this restaurant.Because I know their quality,, their compassion the dignity and the respect. One of the managers normally opens with a beard I can’t remember what his name is is awesome. All the host and hostesses are fantastic as well. Josh, the waiter and Brett the former host now server always warming and welcoming definitely, my choice as my wait staff. God bless this cracker barrel

I went there for Thanksgiving. They said it would be about a 40 minute wait but it wasn’t more than 15 minutes. They had a system going. Meals were delivered quicker, from a limited menu, but good options. I had a nice experience.

I wasn’t quite sure how to rate this one.

I ordered the chicken tender platter. The chicken tenders were less than ideal. Looked absolutely nothing like what their photo showed. I think they cut them into strips to save money.

To top it off, this is the side of fries that came 20 minutes after I ordered the food itself. Note that there are 12 french fries on a plate here. And this constitutes a “side” of fries.

I wish I had taken a picture of the chicken tenders. Because they were just as pathetic.

This place has gone way downhill in the time that “john” has been the GM. they are unable to keep staff. The turnover is absurd. And I’m told that he’s quite the egomaniac by former employees.

I’m not sure why this place has such a great reputation. They must be riding off of the reputation of other Cracker Barrel‘s in their area. Frankly, it’s unlikely that I’ll dine here again.

Worth noting that every server I’ve ever had at this Cracker Barrel has been amazing. So I’m not sure what the problem is. Leadership I suppose.

I’ll order French toast with sugar free syrup. Anybody with common sense would think, this person probably doesn’t want a bunch of sugar in the morning (just getting off work). So why put 3 tons of powdered sugar on the French toast. And also my scrambled eggs were cooked on one side pretty much but that’s minor. What’s going on there. The past few months yall been garbage.. like start hiring people that can make food please..

I genuinely think the server brought me biscuits from another table. One was covered in black marks falling apart and the other one was like a stone. The paper was only about halfway in the basket. This picture is how it arrived. It totally made me lose my appetite and the server just disappeared til later to bring us our check. When I spending money to have a decent meal on a Sunday morning can at least get food that looks like you tried?!!!! I really want to like Cracker Barrel because I good memories with the restaurant and generally like the food but this was shocking to me. Keep your staff in check.

This place is still a little too bougee for me. The menus were the new style with fewer of the country food offerings. The area where they sell stuff was also to fancy for me. I hope they go back to the way they were.

We had an absolutely fantastic lunch here!! Would really recommend their pinto beans, meatloaf, and tater tot casserole appetizer. Julie was our server and was the BEST! We were in Tennessee for about 2 weeks, and she was the best server we had – so helpful, fun, kind, and great recommendations of dishes. It’s also fun to explore the general store here.
