I absolutely loved my visit to Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place is special, the way they present the menus and all the little touches around the diner make it feel warm and unique. The food? Simply fantastic. Every bite felt hearty and made with care. It’s the kind of spot where you leave smiling, full, and already planning your next visit. Highly recommend if you want a cozy, fun, and genuinely delicious experience!

Very charming atmosphere, so much memorabilia everywhere to see! I had the Mini Volcano breakfast, which came with 2 sweet cream pancakes , 1 slice of thick cut bacon , and 1 egg, which I had fried hard. Everything was cooked as ordered, a lot of places don’t cook the egg hard as asked, leaving it slightly runny. Food was excellent in taste and appearance. This is the Original Black Bear Diner location, and I was happy to be driving by and able to stop in!!

It was my first time eating here and the place seems very homey and relaxed. The servers were very attentive. Just be very patient while waiting for your orders because it’s worth the wait. The cost is affordable and the quality is good. The food is superb! I got the blackened salmon and it is seasoned very well. Will definitely come back here next time and order some desserts too. I know there are several branches available but I heard that this particular branch is one of the most delicious

This is the best restaurant near Mount Shasta, I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in town. The service was fantastic, all the servers were so kind and were always smiling and answered any questions we had. The food was AMAZING I expected typical diner food but it was more than that, it was GREAT diner food and they had a bunch of different options for different diets and different tastes. The Chicken Fried Steak was the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had, crispy, no toughness, easy to cut, no batter taste, seasoned very well, and the country red potatoes come with bell peppers and onions and are seasoned perfectly!! They also have wonderful omelet and gluten free toast, perfect with the jam and butter! And their sweet tea is the perfect pairing for any food you get!! This is the first place where my expectations were blown away!

This restaurant with a nice ambience is the original Black Bear Diner.
We had fish fry, chilly, avacado egg toast sandwich, and a sourdough cheeseburger along with wheat beer. The items were decent in taste and presentation. The choice was limited as a few items on the menu such as meat loaf, corned sandwich etc was not available hence one star less.
Free parking area and clean toilets add to the convenience

4.2 Stars is wildly overrating this venue. I wouldn’t feed the $25 steak to my dog. The black water was a sorry excuse for coffee, the staff were lazy and extremely rude, oh and get this.. the “fresh orange juice” was ONLY squeezed 2 hours ago . Absolute circus.

Wonderful experience to visit the very first Black Bear Diner. The food seemed even more exceptional than all the other locations we’ve been too (yet they’re probably all the same). Things like Marble Rye, fresh squeezed OJ, real sausage country gravy never get old.

Fantastic diner with extensive menu featuring classic diner fare. Vibe was friendly, service was prompt. We had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and the tri-tip french dip. Food was delicious and a good value for the money. We arrived a little more than an hour before closing and they were sold out of alot of their homemade desserts so if you want the full variety, make sure you get there earlier! Would definitely recommend and would definitely eat here again.
