Incredible politeness. Fresh salad. Well cooked beef – seared to a nice charred perfection. Massive hot potato – worth considering asking for more sour cream as the amount of potato is a lot!

The restaurant is amazing. A really cozy atmoshere.
The food was really delicious – we order steaks that includes fresh salad, baked potato and garlic bread. Completely satisifying for the price.
The waiter Marija was also very nice, smiley and friendly. She was taking care during all the dinner, asking if we were satiafied with the food, if we need more drink etc.
Totally recommending.

Located in the heart of Kiel, right next to the canal and easily accessible from the city center, Block House offers a pleasant dining experience for those who enjoy quality steaks in a modern and well-kept setting.
The service provided by the waitstaff was excellent—very friendly, attentive, and helpful, which made the table experience truly enjoyable. However, one area that clearly needs improvement is the reception. The hostess on duty in the afternoon (one of the staff members wearing a grey blazer) was noticeably unkind and unhelpful. Her attitude gave the impression of someone who doesn’t want to be there, which unfortunately affects the first impression of the restaurant.
As for prices, this is not a budget-friendly place. It falls into the mid-to-high range, which is fair for the quality of the food and service, but it’s definitely not an economical option.
Highlights:
• Great central location in Kiel
• Pleasant and modern atmosphere
• Very friendly and professional waitresses
• High-quality food and presentation

Very very very satisfying feeling. We were located next to the kitchen and seeing how they work and how everything was working like gears in an engine room were very nice.
Good service, nice food, well trained staff. And a very affordable price.

Good meal at a good price point.
We enjoyed eating here and had a variety of dishes including the oxtail soup, the filet and ribeye, with chips and a variety of deserts.
The restaurant was lively and pleasant with a nice atmosphere and checking of vaccination on entry.
The food was good quality but the steaks would have benefitted from additional seasoning when cooking to help with the crust and overall flavour. I can definitely say they had that deep beefy umami taste though.
The oxtail soup was to thin and not tasty at all especially considering the price. It was very watery but thankfully not salty.
The chips, salad, and sides were all great.
The strawberry ice-cream and the new york cheesecake were all brilliant but the chocolate lava cake was very disappointing, definitely a best-seller based on name rather than reality. I’d definitely recommend the cheesecake.
Unfortunately, a downside to the experience was the waitress who was incredibly rude and clearly only fishing for a tip.
At the end of the meal, throughout which she had been a little curt but generally nice, we paid the bill by card. When we tip, we always tip in cash so that it goes straight to the server but the moment that the waitress saw that I put zero on the card reader, she suddenly became curt and glared at us, literally threw the card on the table and said ‘bye’ as she turned away.
We had intended to tip in cash and my wife was literally getting cash out as this happened but based on that response we left with no tip.
How embarassing.
So final tip – make sure you tell the staff how you are going to tip at the beginning if you want to be sure of a nice experience haha.

Food – liked the salads, fries were OK. The tenderloin steak though written as american was from Uruguay!! So ordered a T-bone steak which was from Ireland!! Good portion but not satisfactory in taste!! Going to a steak house I would expect steaks of different qualities at different price pints!!
Summary – place is ok as casual steak place not for highend steak experience!!
