Born in Foggia, Italy, Lucio “Lou” Bozzelli co-founded with his brother, Tony, what was originally known as “Bozzelli’s Brothers Deli. Their business philosophy was simple: SERVE. GOOD. FOOD. Initially, the menu was limited to cold Italian sub sandwiches because they could not afford a grill. Through word of mouth, the only form of advertising the believed in, their business started to grow and as their budding operation improved they expanded the menu to include hot food like steak subs and pizza. Lou’s brother, Tony, continued to operate the business after Lou’s passing in 1989. To honor Lou’s legacy, his wife and children looked to the stars for inspiration–hence, the spaceman–and relaunched the shop and have now grown to five stores.

I’m a huge fan of this restaurant and ownership. With that being said they’ve always been open and receptive to honest reviews. Today…slam dunk!! My first time having the meatball sandwich. Sooooo good. Tasted fresh, it was hot and cheesy. Just the right amount of sauce and perfectly sized meatballs. This is my new “go to” sandwich!! Good job Springfield.

Great food choices, especially for us, as we pick from the plant based options. We have had the various pizza offerings along with the chicken parm. Everything is aways fresh, hot and delicious. The service is great and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Bozzelli’s Italian Deli. Enjoy!!

In shop dining: October 2025: Stopped by and had a steak and cheese sub and fries – very good and recommened. One draw back was there is only can sodas. I like the fountain drinks much better than can or bottle. Overall pretty good meal and did not break the bank.

Food and service is always great! However, I’m now unable to leave a tip when ordering online and on the app. It gives me an error with the total price and the order will only go through if I remove the tip.
