Bustling, informal eatery luring locals with a homestyle Mexican menu for more than 40 years.

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now, and it’s consistently great. The service from start to finish is beyond friendly… I truly feel appreciated as a customer when I go there. It’s the kind of service that more restaurants should learn how to mimic.
The food is excellent, offering large portions and delicious leftovers. They even give salsa in individual bowls for the chips, which was unique and appreciated.
I couldn’t recommend this one more.

I’m originally from Dallas, having moved to Denver 20 years ago. When I heard there was a Mexican food place named after my Texas’ state flower, you bet I went to try the place out! What I didn’t know was that it’s a Denver institution…
I have been irregularly a regular at Blue Bonnet for over 20 years now. It’s just such a central and great place to meetup with friends for margs and chips. And, for my friends with celiac disease, they’ve never had a problem with the reliability of the extensive gluten-free menu. Heck, I order off that menu half the time. There’s a great happy hour menu! For pricing, otherwise, it’s a reasonable expectation for eating out, especially as large as the portions are. The staff is friendly and professional, have always been satisfied with the service, no matter how busy they get… and, they get busy!
It’s not quite the Tex-Mex I grew up with but, after all these years, it definitely tastes like home!

Not bad! The chips and salsa are mid, but got a 2 item combo with shredded beef burrito and pork tamale. Not the best… Not the worst but decent

Great food, fast and friendly service! We got a burrito, and a taco plate with queso. If you have same day tickets for Avs, Nuggs, Rockies or Broncos…show them your tickets and they comp specific items!!! We will definitely be back!

The mole was too bitter, the flavor was completely off. The dish came with black beans and rice, not Spanish rice. I was disappointed and want to understand why this restaurant has such longevity? What is your favorite dish? Help me understand…

Party of 4. Two had never been. I had not been for 15 years. Great experience. Delicious food. Generous portions. We had chicken chimichanga, chili relleno plate, combo plate (guacamole tostada and chicken tamale, carne asada with side green chile. We all loved our food. Green chile was excellent. Rice and beans delish. Grilled white chicken. The premier margarita was average, but only $9 during happy hour. Our guests were very impressed with the complimentary chips and salsa. Our awesome waitress Jackie gave us each our own bowl of salsa, and she was very friendly and attentive to us. Looking forward to summertime on the patio with our dog.

Jayleen provided great service and took great care of us at the bar, as well as other tables on the floor. The overall staff was great and greeted us with smiles. We ordered 2 margs, quesabirria tacos and a carne asada burrito. Everything was pretty good. The meat in the quesabirria was tender and juicy. The veggies were nice and fresh.
**Also, they have Happy Hour drinks until 6pm** We did add a shot of tequila to the drinks to make them a bit stronger, but that is just our preference.
Ended the night with sopapillas, light and crisp, topped with honey, cinnamon and sugar.
Really glad I took a chance to visit! Thank you all for the hospitality

We had a weekday lunch and ordered the Combo Plate with 2 Tamales, 3 Item Combo (Chicken Enchilada, Chicken Taco & Beef Taco), and Chicken Quesadilla. The food was good. The service was really good too. Parking is limited and you cannot park in the Sam’s Club parking lot.

Will not return. The staff are wonderful but the food, in my opinion, is mid-grade at best and has been for many years. I’ve made 3 visits in the past year and am going out of my way to leave a honest review. A real deal-breaker for me is the salsa. It’s by far the most watered-down salsa I have ever seen in my entire life. $45 dollars before tip for two cheese rellenos, scoop or rice and refried, some lettuce and two domestic beers (to ease the suffering of such a miserable experience)
