Very unique place to stop and eat while visiting Chelsea Market. They offer many options from a fresh raw bar, sushi bar and seafood from the kitchen. The also serve alcoholic beverages here as well. You are responsible for finding your own sitting, so if you spot a potential spot grab it up. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was great, there was lots of staff around to assist and we absolutely loved the atmosphere. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant out.

Stopped by for a lobster roll, ended up having sushi and oysters too!

The lobster roll was $28 pre tax. Was not disappointed. Full of flavour and plenty of meat.

Huge selection of fresh oysters available, with great waiters to explain the characteristics of each.

Sushi was amazing, really well seasoned and nice temperature. Fish smelt very clean and was well handled, nice balanced fat content and cut along the grain.

Overall the seafood experience here was great and a must visit if you are in Chelsea market.

Once I got to Chelsea Market, I beelined straight to The Lobster Place for their lobster roll, and honestly, it hit the spot. It’s super quick, super convenient, and I love that they literally have a glove and cutlery station ready to go—like they somehow knew I was coming and didn’t want lobster butter all over my hands.

The roll itself? Good. Fresh, tender lobster with that classic buttery, lightly toasted bun. It’s the kind of snack you can grab while wandering Chelsea Market without committing to a full sit-down meal. Was it life-changing? Not quite. But was it worth the stop? Definitely.

For me, it sits at a solid 4/5—tasty, reliable, and exactly what you expect from a busy spot that’s perfected the art of fast seafood. The pricing is fair for New York standards, especially given the portion and freshness. Service is quick and efficient, even with the usual crowd. And the setup makes it easy for anyone who just wants to grab, eat, and get back to exploring.

Overall, I’d give The Lobster Place a strong 4 stars. It’s a great option if you’re in Chelsea Market, craving something classic and comforting, and want zero fuss. I’d come back the next time I’m in New York—maybe to try more from their seafood bar.

Located in Chelsea Market, The Lobster Place has a bright, lively seafood market vibe while preserving touches of the old Nabisco factory.

Along with live Maine lobsters, you’ll find a great selection of fresh local seafood, including oysters, clams, sushi, and classic clam chowder.
Even just walking around is part of the fun, making it a must-stop spot when visiting Chelsea Market!

It’s no exaggeration to say they have the finest lobster roll in NY! It’s on the smaller side for one person, but the celery was the real highlight—it added such a great crunch!

I stopped by The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market and ordered the large lobster roll, and wow, it did not disappoint! The lobster was incredibly fresh, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite was savory, buttery, and absolutely delicious, packed with plenty of lobster meat with no skimping at all.

Yes, you’ll pay a pretty penny for it, but honestly, ha ha, it’s worth every dollar. The quality and flavor make it one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had.

I’ll definitely be visiting Chelsea Market and The Lobster Place again soon. If you’re a seafood lover, this is an incredible lobster roll you don’t want to miss!

I love visiting markets around the world, and this one is easily in my top five. The seafood prices are incredibly reasonable, comparable to where the seafood actually comes from. Oysters are priced like Vancouver or Seattle, and lobster is on par with Boston or Northern Canada.

The selection is outstanding, with seasoned seafood you can’t even find in places like California or Maine. Everything is extremely fresh and absolutely worth the price. As a local, I truly appreciate this market. I only skip visits when I’m distracted—not because of the quality.

We arrived 7pm on a Friday evening and there was seats available. My second time here and I loved the vibe and how fresh the seafood was. Came with a party of 5 and we ordered oyster , crabs , sashimi and grilled lobster. Price was decent for the quality. You can go around mixing and match the different seafood choices from the different stores.

Overall a good experience. The oysters are displayed right on the tables where yoy can sit, along with the lobster and other things they sell. They do give you recommendations, and I tried 4 of them.

They’re all a variety of salty in a way, except for indigo which is sweet.

I recommend putting the sauce and maybe a cocktail sauce as well.

Its a bit expensive if you want to try plenty, but it’s fresh and flown daily so it’s worth it.

Great place to get oysters! The store is set up like the fish market. So energetic, noisy and surrounded by many people. It’s very fun to have oysters at this place. They have many types of oysters that you can try. They have the chart at the bar to show what each oyster represents between sweet/salt and small/large. It’s fun to pick and imagine what it will turn out. If you love sweet and creamy oyster, go with Indigos from WA. Suggest to eat the last one to finish your oyster finale.
