We stopped in for takeout and were blown away! I ordered the Rocky Mount meal with mac & cheese and sweet tea, and my fiancé got the Burlington meal with fries. We split an order of fried pickles, and everything was incredible. The pickles were hot and crispy with the perfect spicy ranch, the mac & cheese was creamy and delicious, the coleslaw had just the right sweetness, and the meat was unbelievably tender and flavorful.
While waiting, my fiancé ordered a No-Li beer, and they even brought it out with a chilled glass—such a thoughtful touch! The sweet tea was spot on (I lived in South Carolina and Louisiana for 9 years, and this is the real deal). The whole place smells amazing the second you walk in, the vibe is fun with great classic rock playing, and it’s spotless—even the bathrooms were super clean.
This is clearly a family-run spot with a great story and a military family behind it. The service was quick and so friendly, and the food absolutely exceeded our expectations. Betty Jean’s BBQ is a gem in Spokane—we’ll definitely be back!

Food was so good
The fried okra was better than our southern aunts so that’s saying something (pro tip if you’ve never tried okra, it’s similar to fried mushrooms. They season they’re batter very well and they tasted great)
We tried the plate with ribs and Mac and cheese, the hush puppies, and the pulled pork sandwich. Every thing was amazing
The ribs feel off the bone and the Mac and cheese was so so good with the sauce on it especially
I’m not the biggest slaw person personally, however I loved the pulled pork sandwich which had their slaw on it. It wasn’t too wet but was very flavorful and was sweet and tangy.
Service was amazing, our server was so sweet and patient while we asked for recommendations and opinions. He deserves a raise!
The atmosphere in the building is also beautiful and calming! The ceiling looks very cool! Definitely a great option for any meal <3

This was hands down the BEST BBQ I have ever eaten. Brought home a bunch of ribs for my family and we turned into a rabid pack of dogs fighting over the last scraps. I almost crashed trying to eat ribs while driving because these are, in every sense of the word, IRRESISTIBLE!!! Consume with caution because once you try a bite, you will definitely be HOOKED! I am writing this review so full I can hardly move but I’m already day dreaming of my next meal at Betty Jeans bbq

We arrived with a party of six at dinner time on Friday night. The restaurant was not very full. There were maybe four or five tables. They were out of a number of menu items. The server did tell us about some of those but then when we went to order we found out they were out of another thing and so we had to change our order. I ordered the “hold the bun”, with a beer. The beer was in a can but a cold glass was available. Our server was really nice. She asked us all the right questions, And communicated when the food was going to arrive when things were delayed.
And there was a pretty good delay on our order. It was about 25 minutes before the first two meals arrived, And then another 5 minutes before the next two meals arrived, and then another few minutes for the last two meals to arrive. The food was hot. Mine was okay. The coleslaw was really good and the pulled pork was I believe over seasoned, too much vinegar and salt. And it had a little bit of chewiness like it was overcooked. Two from our party ordered the fries and they both looked very dark like they were quite overcooked and crispy but when we touched and tasted them they were soft and floppy. My guess is a combination of dirty oil and the wrong oil temperature caused this.
My dad’s brisket was pretty good. I liked that. But there was a consensus around the table that it was overdone. My nephew did enjoy the chicken fingers. He gobbled them up but didn’t eat his fries.
Overall, it was kind of a middling experience. I really wanted to try the golden sauce but they were out of that as well.

everything we had was so darn good! i got chicken and ribs with baked beans and coleslaw, she got pulled pork with mac and cheese and corn. the beans had a nice smokiness to them and the coleslaw was pretty perfect, not overly saucy. my only minor complaint is I wish there were wet wipes or at least paper towels available, cuz you really need something after handling the ribs and chicken. will absolutely return!

If you pass by or live in the area around 29th and Ray and you are looking for good food, THIS IS YOUR SIGN!!!! This restaurant looks unassuming from the outside but the second you walk in, BAM!!! Inviting atmosphere and the smell of delicious barbecue hit you like a train. We tried the 1/2 lb. fried okra, the Rocky Mountain pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, hush puppies and sweet tea. The okra was crispy and flavorful, the spicy ranch it came with paired with it perfectly. The sandwich was absolutely fantastic with flavorful, moist pulled pork, delicious tangy barbecue sauce, crispy buns and crunchy coleslaw. I usually have trouble with messy sandwiches and I was devouring this thing like the cavemen must have done the first time they cooked meat over a fire. The coleslaw is crunchy, perfectly tangy and well seasoned. The hush puppies were sweet and cripsy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The cinnamon butter they came with was perfect. The mac and cheese has breading on top and when I stuck my fork through the cheesy breaded top, it literally steamed my glasses. I knew then I was in a special place. They have a sign on the wall that explains that Betty Jean is the owner’s grandma, and she really must have been a special person to imbue the next two generations of her family with a love of great food and the skills to cook it. The gentleman at the counter was extremely friendly and got the food out to us super quickly. My stomach was literally full to bursting and I couldn’t stop eating. We loved everything about our experience here and it was worth every penny. I often see this place empty and I could be driving by during lulls in business but this place should be absolutely bursting at the seams with customers all the time.

Let me tell you something , if you haven’t had Betty jeans BBQ you ain’t living !!! It’s by far one of the best BBQ places I have ate at , friendly service every time I go – REAL SOUTHERN CHARM -, the brisket is simply mouth watering , and the lemonade is very good too !! You get exactly what you pay for there !!! Delicious savory BBQ !! Every time !! Well worth checking out – I’d recommend ordering in advance it’s that good!! And I’m from Texas and have had BBQ in North Carolina and South – and all over – they have done it right – every time I have been – Very loyal fan and customer!!!

The brisket was super soft and moist! Nice crispy outer layer with a little bit of fat perfectly juicy! The sausage is decent. The ribs were amazing!!! Fatty but amazing!! I really wanted to like this place! And I’m so glad I do!
Their BBQ sauce could go better but the meat is good enough that you don’t really miss it!
I tried the grandma’s special 3 meat combo and the beef and pulled pork burger. Both were amazing! The sides were nice too. Loved the hush puppies. The corn can do better. Very satisfied. I’m going back very soon!
Their meats are MUCH better than outlaw which everyone in Spokane recommends. But I’ve tried outlaw 4 times and been disappointed every time!
We reached 7:40 and they close at 8 (even on the weekends)…But they made us feel welcome and did not rush us. We were out before 8:10.

This is a cute little BBQ restaurant on the south Hill . Very traditional southern style BBQ and sides . Ribs are amazing and the hush puppies are the best I ever had . The Brisket for dry and not very appetizing.
