I visited King of Mandi today and ordered the lamb mandi and chicken mandi, and everything was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the rice had an authentic taste that really stands out.
What impressed me the most is the excellent quality of the food compared to the very reasonable prices. The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and clearly made with care.

Food (2/5):
I ordered both the lamb and chicken Mandi. Unfortunately, the food was below average. I have pretty high standards since I was born and raised in and know what authentic Yemeni food should taste like. This just didn’t come close.
Service (4/5):
The lady who greeted me and the waiter who served my food were both very friendly and welcoming. However, the owner or manager (the man behind the counter in the white shirt) seemed very dry and lacked basic customer service skills, which left a negative impression.
Atmosphere (3/5):
The space felt a bit cramped — tables are too close together, so there’s not much sense of privacy. Luckily, it was a quiet afternoon, so it wasn’t too uncomfortable moving around.
Overall:
Would I come back again? Probably not. I preferred the previous management. I ended up paying around $70 for food that was just meh.

The hospitality here is truly outstanding, but the only thing that tops it is the food. If you want real, traditional Yemeni cuisine, this is the place. I’ve tried so many other spots, and nothing even comes close to their mandi. Absolutely incredible!

Very delicious Arabic food from Yemen! The Mandi lamb was really tender and I didn’t even need a knife. Perfectly seasoned . The race that comes with it is also very delicious. I ate way past my normal serving amount of rice in one sitting because it was so good. Ask for the tea with milk. It’s very flavorful and unique. I love the atmosphere in there with the Arabic music playing on the TV screen and the decor is nice. The next time I come to Detroit I will definitely eat here again!
