We had a really good meal here before a concert at Pine Knob. I had their specialty Mac and cheese and it was so good. They have great ribs and pulled pork too. There’s a wide selection of sauces. The mustard based one was my favorite. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Great service.

Our server was Belle, who was upbeat, friendly, super helpful, and efficient. She knew the menu and was able to answer all of our questions, as well as make recommendations that were spot on! I had Union Woodshop BBQ on my list of restaurants to try, and when I was driving through Clarkston on my way home, I decided it was the perfect time to cross it off my list. Even though I wasn’t super hungry, I figured I could take home anything I couldn’t finish. I’m so glad I stopped!
I ordered the Classic Tray, which came with a 1/3lb of brisket, pulled pork, and dark meat chicken (my preference over white meat). I also asked for a fatty cut of brisket, and they were able to accommodate that request. The tray came with slaw, pickles, and I opted for corn muffin over white bread. I also added the BBQ baked beans, and they were absolutely fantastic.
To start, I went with the fried pickles appetizer with house dip, which was excellent. The deli-style dill pickles had just the right amount of breading, light and crispy without overpowering the pickle.
The meats were flavorful and tender, not overly smoky, and served on a tray similar to the style you’d find at Texas BBQ joints. It felt authentic and satisfying.
The service was equally impressive—our server was attentive, explained the menu and options thoroughly, and made sure my drink was never empty. I didn’t have to wait to be seated, but we were there around 4:30, just ahead of the dinner rush.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be back. I’ll also be recommending Union Woodshop to my friends. And yes, I did take home what I couldn’t eat and enjoyed it the next day.

Cool place to eat! Very good smoke meats, we especially love their Nashville hot wings. My daughter loves the mac and cheese. Their pizza is excellent as well. We’ve been here three times and it’s now at our Friday dinner rotation.

The pulled pork is my favorite protein at the Union Woodshop. The pickles were surprisingly delicious. I usually don’t care for them, but they added a lot of flavor to it. The corn bread and butter were amazing. The mac and cheese was just regular. The coleslaw was dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor. I left most of it. I’ll probably order different sides next time. The male server we had the last time I was here was way friendlier to us compared to the female one we had the first time I went. I like the place, but wish there was a brighter room. Even in broad daylight, all the rooms are kind of dim. I get it for the bar area. But for people who don’t drink, wish we had a brighter spot.

As a first timer to this joint, I picked a day that was extremely busy. I was at a table with several people all paying on separate checks. I know, a nightmare for our server Olivia, but she handled it with Grace. As I mentioned, it was busy lots of patrons, and as we waited for our food, I watched her as she navigated through several large groups. I believe she did an extraordinary job satisfying everyone as they waited for their food. I did notice the food was a little slow in coming out, but it’s natural when you’ve got so many patrons coming in and wanting food at the same time. I was embarrassed that one of my dining companions were complaining about her, whining that they didn’t get their food on time. I reminded them how busy she was and how the establishment was that night. But sadly, she wasn’t satisfied. Which was a shame, because Olivia I felt did a great job. She had a lot on her plate and I for one was very grateful for the level of service and attentiveness she gave to our party. Olivia greeted our table in a timely fashion and was again, very attentive when it was clear she was very busy. Bravo, Olivia, and thank you for your patience.

The last few times we went here we were not impressed but today they redeemed themselves. The brisket was tender and flavorful, andouille sausage delicious! The ribs were perfection. As usual the bbq sauce is great. A must try! Love the relaxed decor. Very clean and staff was amazing as well.

The beer I got upstairs was great it was a peanut butter and jelly kind. Then food I had the burnt ends which were great just kinda cold, then my pizza was great. Glad we came in before the concert today.

We had Rachael as our server and she was amazing! She checked in often, double checked any items for vegetarian limitations, let us taste test some sides to make sure it wasn’t too spicy! Fun place to hangout with the family on a Friday evening. The young ones love the pinball machines upstairs while waiting for the food. The adults likes the bar and its drinks choices.
The food was very good, for my uneducated taste bud it’s as good as most BBQ places down in Texas. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, a perfect combination.
