Tomo Sushi in Richmond Hill offers a refined dining experience with high-quality Japanese cuisine, featuring fresh sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls in an elegant atmosphere. All chicken & most beef items are halal (except Kalbi Short Ribs). Our sushi rice is seasoned with mirin that contains a very small amount of alcohol before cooking (approx. 0.1%). During preparation, the mirin is fully boiled to remove the alcohol prior to use, and the final sushi rice is considered to contain 0% alcohol. However, we understand this process may not meet the personal standards of some guests who strictly follow halal guidelines, and we kindly ask that you consider this when placing your order.
Japanese fare such as sushi, teriyaki & tempura, plus Korean dishes, served in a casual setting.

The course included an avocado salad, a tempura appetizer, hot miso soup, and high-quality deluxe sashimi. Everything was well balanced and satisfying, and it honestly felt comparable to some omakase meals downtown.
It felt like a special treat, and the atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. I also liked that the course included ice cream for dessert — a perfect way to finish the meal.
Since it’s a limited-time menu, I’m planning to come back soon with my family. Highly recommend giving it a try!
Since then, whenever I want to treat someone to a nice meal, this is one of the places I often choose. It’s the perfect place to host and treat others. Even the dessert ice cream at the end was amazing!
If you need to buy a meal for someone special, Tomo Sushi is the place to go.
We were also pleasantly surprised by how good the tempura ice cream was. The contrast between hot and cold + creamy and crunchy textures made dessert very enjoyable. Will definitely look to come back another time.
The nigiri selection was impressive—especially the shima-aji (striped jack). It’s not a fish I usually find easily in Canada, so tasting it here was a real highlight. The texture was buttery yet firm, and the flavour was incredibly refined. Every piece felt carefully handled by the chef.
The chef also surprised us with a special roll that wasn’t on the menu. It came beautifully plated and layered with multiple textures—crispy, creamy, savoury, and perfectly balanced. It’s the type of roll that tells you the chef truly enjoys creating something unique for guests.
Overall, the experience was excellent: great service, thoughtful preparation, and some of the freshest fish I’ve had since coming to Canada. I would definitely return and highly recommend Tomo Sushi to anyone looking for authentic quality with a creative touch.
