Since 1992, Hopleaf has been a mecca for those seeking the most interesting and curated selection of craft beers in Chicago. We at Hopleaf are also proud of our fine dining, wine and spirits offerings. The atmosphere of the multi floor, multi roomed tavern is casual and comfortable and weather permitting, there is a leafy green outdoor patio as well. Customers can choose full table service or a more casual bar room experience. Wherever you are, you can’t fail to notice the extensive collection of vintage enamel beer signs, original vintage posters and other breweriana. Local family owned and manged, Hopleaf has long functioned as a convivial neighborhood pub in Chicago’s welcoming Andersonville community.
Creative Belgian-focused eats go with loads of brews at this lively hang that’s 21 & older only.

A favorite Belgian restaurant worth the journey. The mussels are excellent, the beer list is extensive and the atmosphere makes it perfect: a cozy real wood-burning stove in the cold months, gorgeous outdoor courtyard when it’s nice outside.

What a great spot! They have an excellent beer selection, and the barleywine was absolutely amazing. We also ordered the mussels and fries, and the portion was so generous that we didn’t need to order a full dinner. One pound was more than enough to fill us up. We were really impressed and will definitely be back!

Great Brewpub experience on the North Side. Massive selection of Belgian style beer including some unique glassware. I ordered the burger, as usual. Large, quality beef patties, smashed and crispy. A bit sloppy and a lot of food to finish but delicious all around. Significant amount of cheese, so be prepared for a meltdown. Fries and sauce were crispy and full of garlic.
I would give the burger an 8.8 out of 10

Excellent place to stop for a few beers. Decent selection of Belgian style beer and a great variety of crafts on draft. I had the burger and fries to eat. The burger was as described on the menu but came out scalding hot and was very messy (not really complaints just describing my experience). The bartender was friendly and was considerate enough to offer water without me having to ask. Glad I finally made it here

Everything on the menu is worth trying, but there is a reason they’re known for their Belgian mussels and fries. Servers know how to pair drinks with the food, so please ask about it! Holly was our server and she is an absolute gem. Try the desserts! They’ll really impress you.

Good food and service, but the drink selections are where it really stands out! Recommend if you are into Belgian beers or other similar beverages.
Just with they had a few more lambic options.

The ham sandwich here is fantastic and a must try. But the burger was by far the worst I’ve had in years. Completely flavorless and messy. There was a massive amount of wet stringy onions that completely ruined the bottom bun. Anytime you bit into the burger a long trail of onions pulled right out of it. And the lettuce was so wet, flaccid and intrusive. And it didn’t resemble a smash burger whatsoever. I haven’t walked out of a restaurant that disappointed in over a year. Huge letdown.

Popped in on NYE and we had a lovely time yapping and indulging in Poutine and desserts. Highly recommend and will absolutely come back for more.

Pretty solid. Good the schnitzel sandwich which was pretty good. It came with an insane amount of fries which I could never have finished. They got me some gravy to try and make it a bit like poutine but it wasn’t really enough. The fries were ok, but nothing too special. The atmosphere was nice and lively.

Excellent selection of tap and bottled beers.
Many of which are hard to find in the US.
Two large bars and 4 seating areas. (That I saw). Fantastic food. I had a very tasty Ruben.
Very pleasant neighborhood, reasonably priced parking and good walking.
Worth a try for Belgian vibes!
