Went went to South Restaurant and Jazz Club for my daughter’s birthday. I made a reservation online which was easy, while making the reservation I was able to indicate the occasion we were celebrating. Their site provides information about parking and the information was accurate. The website also informed of dress code for an upscale, sophisticated look to embrace the ambiance. We experienced excellent customer service from the check-in to the server. Our server was very attentive making sure to check in and that we had everything we needed. We had the cornbread skillet, mac and cheese, buttermilk fried chicken and mango salmon dishes. The food was delicious and the portions were great! The music was excellent! We will definitely come back!

The ambiance of South is very nice, and everything is delicious here. Definitely make reservations, they have a jazz club right next door to the restaurant but you can also hear the music inside the restaurant which is nice and its not super noisy. The turkey wings, chicken, fish and shrimp and cornbread are great. Our waitress was really nice and explained everything on the menu for us. Parking you have to try to get on the side streets but read the signs up. Also there is a lot not far from the restaurant. Defintely will be returning. #food #dinner #music

I had an amazing experience at South Restaurant in Philadelphia! From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The ambiance was everything!!!!! The cornbread was absolutely unforgettable; warm, buttery, and packed with flavor. The chicken was seasoned down to the bone, so much so that at one point I felt like I was back home in Jamaica enjoying a home cooked meal.
On top of the incredible food, the service was top-notch. My server, Markeith, was a true gem; attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. South Restaurant is definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food and great vibes in Philly!

We came here for a jazz show & dinner & we absolutely loved it!! What stood out most to us was the friendly & welcoming staff. They went above & beyond to make us feel comfortable & be sure we had everything we needed to have a wonderful experience. My wife asked for one thing on her birthday, and that was to go out to see some jazz. After searching for some places, I found South. Brandee Younger and her trio were playing the jazz club in the back. We had no idea what to expect, but looked forward to some good music, a nice meal, and a few drinks. South delivered on every single front. The space is gorgeous. Walking in feels like stepping from Broad Street into an elegant and playful restaurant in some southern bayou. We were led through the bustling restaurant back to a quieter more dimly lit room and to our table right at the foot of the stage, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and even more delicious music. Our server Gina took great care of us. From my steak to my wife’s salmon, the food was prepared perfectly. Don’t go without ordering the Cornbread skillet for the table. It almost stole the show. That is, until the pineapple bread pudding was delivered with a candle for my wife. We decided, since we were so stuffed from our meal, that we’d split dessert, and thank goodness we did. That serving of bread pudding must have weighed a half pound. It was served with scoop of creamy, I think caramel, ice cream. Despite a valiant effort, we couldn’t finish it all. In addition to Gina’s constant attention, we had three different folks bringing us food and drinks, each one of them checking in and making sure we were taken care of. Everyone we encountered, from the Host, to the servers, to the manager brought a smile and a sense of pride in everything they did. The atmosphere, the entertainment, the food, the drinks, the service, and the vibe were all absolutely on point all night long. The one word that continually comes to mind in reflecting on our experience is excellence. The next time you’re looking for a great night out, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at South. You’ll be glad you did.

All I can say is WOW! The musicians are wonderful. The acoustics in the lounge area is amazing. Clear and crisp. Service was pretty good. The hostess was very nice. The escort to the back was very professional.
We had the server, Evan. He was great, very personable and efficient for the most part. The food came extremely fast, hot and fresh. The portion size is perfect for the price. Amazing food! The cornbread is to die for. If you like sweet, cakey cornbread you will love it. The fish was fresh and flavorful.
Will I go back? For sure, hands down. I have told my friends and associates to visit. It’s a perfect, intimate date night.
The only con is, boxing up the leftovers. The tables are small so it’s hard to box the food. We asked Evan to box it and he did. He just forgot the sauce and mangoes to go lol but that was my only con.

What a wonderful experience, the food was amazing, so much flavor, the Jazz awesome!! So entertaining and I loved the interaction with band had with the crowd getting everyone involved. Loved it, would definitely go back again!! Our server was so attentive and made my daughter feel special with a candle in her dessert as we were there to celebrate her Birthday and graduation. I can not say enough about my dining and customer service experience at SOUTH. I ordered the buttermilk chicken platter and the honey butter skillet cornbread. Both entrees were extremely fresh and seasoned to perfection! Also, our waitress (Sharon) was very attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She truly enhanced our dining experience to a superior level!
With this being stated, I relayed my excellent dinning experience to my friends and colleagues and they made reservations for March! Don’t spend your hard earned money anywhere else. Choose SOUTH Restaurant…you will not regret it!

What a great dinner experience to be had at this hidden gem! The ambiance, from the outdoor garden area, to the interior including the bathrooms, isnl absolutely perfect. There has been a lot of thought to detail with this restaurant and it didn’t go unnoticed! The menu is small, which is fine because they have a variety of dishes for everyone’s palette, including vegan. Our server was Aliyah, and we we couldn’t have asked for a more genuine and accommodating person to take care of us. We had a million request and additional add-ons. She took care of everything with a smile. A big shout out to that young lady!!! We started with the corn bread, which comes out in a cast iron skillet jusy minutes after you order it. Its a must have. We decided on the buttermilk shrimp for the table. The flavor was delicious and the combination of Sriracha and hot honey as the dipping sauces were brilliant. The shrimp were very petite. That would be my only complaint. The size of the shrimp didn’t match the price. The crab cakes were so large and delicious. They were a perfect portion to leave you full. The fried chicken meal is great because it comes with the sweet potato auto gratin, which was the star of the show. Its not a crispy chicken fry, so don’t get your hopes up for that. However, the meat stayed juicy, even in the breast. That’s most important with fried chicken. The portions are perfect!

10000/10 experience. I decided to take a weekend trip to Philly from NYC for my anniversary and came across this beautiful restaurant on my search of “What to do when in Philly”. This jazz show experience was absolutely beautiful from start to finish. The host started off with announcing parties celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. I always thought no one paid attention to those “what are you celebrating ” boxes but not South. They paid attention to all the details and it felt like one big family the entire night. The food was impeccable and so was the service. They made my anniversary extra special, I would recommend this experience to anyone.
