Our first time to Root Down that was recommended from a friend. It was incredible food and atmosphere experience. The BEST was the staff from the waitress/ waiters, hostesses, and manager. Many came to the table asking what they could do to serve our needs. From appetizers, shareables, main dish, and desserts. Cocktails that was recommended by the staff and bartender. Topped the night with a pour of Pappy’s 10 year. Highly recommended!

The prix fixe menu was an excellent way to bring in the new year. My girl and I enjoyed every course in this three course meal. We decided to include the wine pairing which added to the festivities.

I love root down. The atmosphere is great. The food is wonderful and I love all of the fun and interesting twists they put on each of their menu items.
Pros: allergy friendly, gorgeous presentation, very interesting food.
Cons: expensive for the portions, service was too casual, not enough explaining the dishes.

The service feels casual for the prices, and the portions are much smaller than I would like. My table got three appetizers and a meal each and shared two desserts as a party of five and none of us were super full by the time we left. The steak could have been twice as big and the appetizers were very small, each person got a couple bites.
Also, If I’m paying $70- $100 a person, and the menu has so many details, I want my food to be brought out and explained, so I can understand all the intricacies of it and the flavors, I also want the service to match how interesting the food is and for the waitress to explain the dishes. I found myself having to ask for more details a lot.
I like this place, I’d probably go for happy hour and make my experience more casual, but I would think twice before going there for a special occasion again.
Overall we were happy just not exceedingly.
Thank you all!

Super disappointed for what you get for the price. Also slimy tipping practices (5% included in bill – tip machine tips on top of total including tax with pre-included tip).

The food was great, but I paid probably double what I believe it’s worth. $100 a person for 2 drinks, 3 starters, and 1 entree. Very bad value here.

The gnocchi was my favorite – really good twist on the dish.

I had their seasonal short rib dish, and while the flavors were great, I’ve cooked more tender short rib that I got from King Soopers. Pretty disappointed that I can even get close for the price.

Cocktails very overpriced for what they are. Good, but simple. Paid ~$16 for them and felt like I should have paid $10

Overall the spot was disappointing. Way more expensive than it leads on. If the prices dropped to 60% of what they are then it would be fire.

What a culinary experience! If you are interested in something different yet outstanding, this is it! my new favorite restaurant in Denver! Try the rockfish Thom Ka, the chef is just playing your senses and the flavors, amazing and very unique. It far exceeded my already high expectations. And the drinks too have these unique flavors to them made by true craftsmen. Kudos!

I went to Route Down for brunch on Sunday and loved it. They open at 10, and we had reservations, which made it super easy to get settled in. Our waiter was genuinely lovely, and the service felt attentive without hovering, plus we were never rushed.

I ordered an Americano, the veggie tofu scramble, and a side of hash browns, and everything was delicious. The menu feels like classic brunch favorites with a slight twist, more elevated than basic diner food, but still very reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is wonderful, and it has that perfect neighborhood bar/restaurant vibe where you want to linger and come back. Highly recommend!

Very nice food and atmosphere! The staff was great. I had my baby with me so didn’t get to take too many pictures but I had the lamb sliders and the beet salad plus the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Oh, the mocktail was also so refreshing!! One thing, I paid with a card and the tip prompt came up like when you’re at a coffee shop (18%, 20%, 25%) though and I went into autopilot and I think I left less than 20% tip for my waiter who was actually great Please tell him I said my bad!! He was working Tuesday evening on the patio.

It’s been a few years since I last ate at Root Down, but the food is every bit as good as I remembered. I joined a couple friends for restaurant week and we shared dishes, and everything from the appetizers to the dessert was excellent. My personal favorites were the pork and the fish entrees, along with the creative variation on carrot cake. There’s nothing we ordered that I wouldn’t order again. The service was also too-notch.

Friendly service with a great introduction to the menu and recommendations upon request. I love that they are able to do half-portions of some dishes, to let you sample more menu items without needing a large party doing family-style orders. Everything tasted fresh, and my favorite dish was the Griddled Colombian Arepas.
