Great place to have a nicer dinner or treat yourself to something a little more upscale. Prices are a little higher but the food and drinks were all extremely good and we enjoyed everything we got. The clam chowder was excellent, and the oysters tasted very fresh. Service was fast and cocktails were well done. The connected patio gets somewhat loud, so if you’re looking for somewhere quiet, the outdoor seating is the place to go. If you’re looking for something on the nicer side, this place has lots of great options for a night out.

Lure Fish House in Ventura, CA is an absolute gem for fresh, killer seafood with a vibe that’s chill yet upscale. Their mussel pasta (that Mussels Basquaise style) is straight fire—plump black mussels swimming in a rich fire-roasted tomato broth loaded with Spanish chorizo, queso fresco, and served with garlic bread for dipping—it’s bold, smoky, and insanely flavorful. And the Spanish clams (or those pan-roasted basil clams) hit different; tender Venus clams in a garlicky white wine sauce with lemon and herbs, perfect for sopping up with bread or twirling on pasta if you’re feeling it. Everything tastes super fresh, portions are solid, and the whole place just delivers that satisfying seafood fix every time. Great spot—definitely go if you’re in the area!

Our dinner at Lure last night was the perfect highlight to a deliberate detour. We’re on a road trip to Los Angeles, but purposefully chose Ventura as a mid-point stop to visit Patagonia’s headquarters. My partner, a graduate student at UCB, is researching a capstone project on Patagonia’s business philosophy. For us, this visit is about more than research, and it’s about physically connecting with the city and the ethos that Patagonia embodies.

A huge shout-out to the team at Lure! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent, the ambiance was perfect, and the service was outstanding.

Highlights:
The weekday happy hour (3 PM–6 PM) is a true gem. Standouts include the amazing charbroiled oysters ($8 for three) and the delicious crab cakes served with greens. Don’t miss the chowder. It’s an absolute must-order at just $3. I’ve attached the menu for reference.
Overall, it’s a fantastic offering of great food at an affordable price.

Service & Atmosphere:
The staff was wonderfully welcoming and efficient. Our food arrived incredibly quickly, with virtually no wait. As someone who often gets nervous ordering and tends to mispronounce things, I especially appreciated our waitress’s patience and kindness as she helped confirm my order.
Another highlight is the space itself. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern and cozy, with comfortable bar seating. It was lovely to see several solo diners there, genuinely enjoying their meals.

My experience at Lure was truly memorable. I feel lucky to have dined there, and it certainly made Ventura feel all the more likable. I can’t recommend it enough.

We had a great dinner with excellent service. We had the cheddar biscuits which were delicious. We also had the Vancouver oysters and the mussels with chorizo which was delicious. The entrees had mix reviews. My fish and chips were great though they needed some salt. My lady had the lobster ravioli which was drowned in cheese. Personally I don’t mind all that cheese but it seemed overpowering to the flavor of the ravioli. But all in all a very lovely end to our day trip to Ventura and for 3 appetizers, 2 entrees And 2 non alcoholic drinks for $110, a great bargain !

Stopped in at this seafood grill in Ventura and had an awesome experience. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with a fun crowd at the bar that really added to the energy of the place. Drinks were solid all around, but the real star for me was the oysters—super fresh and absolutely delicious. Definitely a must-try.

My girlfriend ordered the halibut, and it was off the charts—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Everything came out looking great and tasting even better.

If you’re looking for a spot with great seafood, good drinks, and a fun social vibe, this place delivers. Highly recommend stopping by—you’ll have a great time.

Perfect drink, perfect meal, perfect service: for a perfect day. We were celebrating a new job. Don’t go on Saturdays; it is just too crowded. Sunday afternoon is just the perfect time. I had the Kampachi.

I recently discovered Lure Fish House thanks to its fantastic online reviews. I was so impressed that I ended up going for happy hour two days in a row!

I absolutely loved their seafood tower, oyster shooters, and biscuits. The sundae was also a delicious treat to end the meal. The pepper dish was a bit too spicy for my taste, but overall, the food was great and the service was excellent.

I will definitely be back for more!

Lure Fish House is one of my go-to happy hour spots. Happy hour runs Monday–Friday from 3:00–6:00 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am–5:00 , which is honestly elite timing.

First of all, the complimentary bread deserves its own shoutout. Warm, comforting, and dangerous in the best way.

I’m obsessed with their oyster bar, especially the Grassy Bar oysters and the charbroiled oysters. I always order the house-made chowder 50/50, it’s half Classic New England and half Veracruz fish chowder. It’s rich, flavorful, and truly the best of both worlds.

I’m a big fan of their shared plates, which is where Lure really shines. Favorites include the bacon cheddar biscuits with whipped honey goat cheese, crab cakes, and a classic Caesar salad that never disappoints. Everything is well-executed and perfect for sharing.

Their specialty cocktails are also worth ordering and pair well with the food, especially during happy hour.

The vibe is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for after-work drinks or a casual dinner with friends. I personally love sitting at the bar or oyster bar, it’s the best way to experience the space. Service has always been friendly and efficient,

Parking is easy too. Free parking is available in the structure behind the restaurant, which is a huge plus in downtown Ventura.

I honestly never make it to dessert because I’m always completely full, and that says a lot. Consistent, welcoming, and a solid go-to for seafood and happy hour in Ventura.
