Best to make reservations. We had a long wait. My daughter and I enjoyed our dinner here. Our waitress Ivy, even though busy still kept up with it. She got us our drinks and food rather quickly for being as busy as it was. The food was good for the dinner side.

As a server/restaurant manager, I was quite disappointed in cleanliness of this restaurant. I am easy to please, and usually just glad to get a table and food in front of me.
I love to try new restaurants- especially sushi ones. My first impression was of the hostess who was wearing grey sweat pants…. They encourage people to never go to an interview is sweats, so it makes we wonder why they allow the hostess to wear them. The hostess also viewed a table that was dirty and empty when she went to seat me, but yet didn’t make an effort to clean it off so it stayed dirty until the table busser arrived toward the end of my meal.
My soy sauce pourer was absolutely filthy. I took just a little bit of water on my finger and got the top shiny and clean when I was trying to figure out if it was actually dirty or if it was just streaks.
Lastly, I asked for cream cheese to be added to one of my rolls. Once the server brought it out she informed me that they were out of cream cheese…. I understand running out of items, but I just wish I would have been informed before they came out. I think I would have just ordered the one roll or switched my order if I would have known. The rolls were good, and the service was good, but ultimately I wouldn’t come back based on the appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant.
I hope someone is able to see this review and step up their standards. I had spent time before coming to Grand Rapids this day to find a new sushi restaurant based on reviews and if I would have read a review like this one- I think I would have found a better spot to eat.

If you want a quiet night at a cozy restaurant this might not be your stop. It was just the right amount of controlled chaos that you’d find at any Hibachi style restaurant. I went as a solo diner on a busy Saturday for my birthday. My waitress was super nice and chatted with me when she stopped by my table.
Food was delicious and fairly priced.
It seemed like everyone in the place had a smile, customers and staff. All in all a great place to eat if you’re near by.

My favorite hibachi restaurant!
My wife and I eat here often. The food is fantastic, the service is always exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. very nice and clean place with a fun, relaxing atmosphere. Love the hibachi chefs too, they always make it a funny and memorable dining experience.
We have necer had a bad experience with Sakura, in fact, this is our go to place for our Everdry team’s annual Christmas dinner, even with our large group, we still receive fantastic service and food. our staff always talks about what a great time we have there.
Not only do we alway enjoy a great meal, but there are always left overs to take home for seconds. The gift that keeps on giving!
Keep up the good work Sakura, we’ll be back soon.

I liked this restaurant overall and I recommend it! The building is pretty clean and modern with nice decor, but it can be very noisy. The food took a while to arrive and the waitress wasn’t very attentive, but it was pretty busy there and she was working very hard serving lots of tables. Most importantly, the selection is great, the prices are fair and the food is outstanding!

I have dined at this restaurant several times and I must say , this was the worst experience i’ve ever had. The food was great, and the chef was entertaining, however the draft beer was warm, and the glasses were dirty. My spouse and another female guest at out table ordered a dirty martin. The drinks arrived in a stemless wine glass with no olives having a very poor appearance. My wife and another guest rejected the drinks due to presentation. A short time later the bartender, who was dressed in work out leggings and a top, came to our group table and lectured us on why we wouldn’t accept the drinks. As she rolled her eyes, she stated “So you’re not taking these drinks because of the glass they came in?” Such movie!
After everyone at the table finished eating. We sat there for 15 or 20 minutes, not touching our food, waiting for our server to return with to go boxes and our bills.
This overall experience was very disappointing as I was looking forward to a fun entertaining evening with my friends and strangers. I spoke with the manager after the fact and I didn’t really get a sense that he cared

Took my daughter a few weeks ago sat at the sushi bar, on a crowded night. Service was great, chefs were excellent, sushi was amazing. Great experience it will be a monthly visit for us!
