I gave it 2 stars and that is being nice. Such a disappointment. It was our first time here. My husband picked out this restaurant to celebrate his birthday. I made a reservation with a special note for “birthday dessert.” Upon arrival the hostess sweetly greeted us and wished my husband a happy birthday. Although the server and the individual she was training were super nice, the service fell short. They were not attentive. We ordered our drinks, the bread basket and our dinner. The drinks were good, but we proceeded to wait 48 minutes and the bread never came. I tried to make eye contact with our server, but she was too busy rushing around. When our dinner came, there was no bread…they forgot it. Sadly the highlight of our dinner was the French fries! The best part was the company! To top it off, the espresso machine was broken and when the dessert we ordered was dropped off, no candle and not even a happy birthday.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. The open fireplace, the staff, the drinks, and the food are above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. The owner was so pleasant, had a great conversation with him! We drive over an hour just to eat here, and are always drawn back to see what’s next.

Over the last decade I’ve visited Antlers a few times when in the Ithaca area. The atmosphere is really inviting, rustic with a fireplace, and that hasn’t changed. The prices and food though, someone there is more about counting beans and less about the fine dining experience it used to be. Let’s talk about the Wednesday Prime Rib special – nice photo on the web of a beautifully roasted prime rib roast. That’s what one used to get when ordering the special. What I got recently was a slice of meat grayish on the outside, scientifically sous-vide cooked to temperature on the inside, not the beautiful hunk of roasted meat with pink in the center and the outer edges crusted with herbs, sliced off a big roast. There is a huge difference there. Huge. Very unsatisfying. Pricewise, the 9oz queen cut of is now $45! 2020 price $32, 2016 price $15 and it came with bread for the table. Now that was Special as in Wednesday Prime Rib Special. Now you also have to pay $5 if you want bread for the table. Just disappointing. This warm place for special meals, for family gatherings, for special events used to be the top choice, but is, in my opinion, no longer special.
Update to response – Thank you Scott, I appreciate that the economics of a restaurant are difficult, and you have priced your menu accordingly. Fair enough, especially in the case of your usually outstanding restaurant. Seriously. I have, prior to my recent visit, always had a great experience there. My sticker shock reaction was mainly in relation to what was on my plate, it looked as if someone had sous vided a rib steak. And what I was expecting was juicy, cooked to perfection, rib roast. Which were my prior experiences. It was a let down. I can’t explain why, maybe we came too early and the roast wasn’t finished yet. Whatever the reason it was a disappointment for me. As for bread for the table, little classy details set some restaurants above others, and it was a dissapointnent that it didn’t just magically appear with a friendly smile like in times past. Otherwise, thank you for the many delicious meals I have enjoyed at Antlers over the years. It stands (usually) as some of the best food I have eaten in my life.

I visited the Antlers for the first time in a long time and it was wonderful. It was a cold snowy night and inside it was warm and cozy- with a fire going in the fireplace. We had an impromptu gathering of 10 friends and spouses – a few visiting from out of town for the holidays. They got us in last minute for the early seating and were friendly, gracious, and attentive. Kaelee was our server and she was fantastic. I had an excellent bourbon old fashioned, there was a nice selection of wi es and good local beers,and there was something on the menu for everyone. We had tasty ribs and an awesome Mac n Cheese with pulled pork. Our group had a terrific time, and we will be back again soon. Thanks to the great people at The Antlers for a memorable night!

Very cozy and quiet setting. Good for dates and conversation. I sat at the bar and was entertained by the bartenders recently on a Sunday and Monday evening.
Well made cocktails along with Ahi Tuna was wonderful. The NY strip was perfect. The New York cheesecake was delightful. A pleasant surprise for this out of town traveler. Good food and good people. Highly recommended.

Our Anniversary meal was wonderful; we shared it with a dear friend. The shrimp/fried green tomatoe’s seasoning & textures were spot on. The Santa Barbara Salad was a delicious treat of greens, Gorgonzola cheese, maple syrup vinaigrette, and glazed pecans. We opted for the prime rib specials and were served by a professional waitress who couldn’t wait to make our evening relaxing and warm by the hearth style fireplace. A local stout beer accompanied the feast! Make a reservation here soon!

We came on holiday and accidentally chose this restaurant for dinner. I want to say that everything was wonderful, the service was top notch, the food was simply divine, the atmosphere was quiet and calm, a very cozy restaurant. I advise everyone to visit and try the signature soup.

11/16/24- Still delicious food and excellent service, we had no room for dessert this time, but they looked yummy going by.
8/28/25- We’ve had our anniversary dinner here for the last three years and it never disappoints! Filet was superb and everything else was delicious, including the pistachio gelato! Great service ad usual too! We tried a new smoked cocktail this year and it was amazing!

Nice place where people came in shorts and what not. Salmon appetizer was really good. Filet was supposed to be medium with pink on middle and was way overcooked. Garlic mash was bland. Green beans good. Waitress Katie was nice but asked us if we were doing great and we said fine. Then she went on her way.
