Tasty Halal Restaurant – Authentic Pakistani Cuisine in Bridgeport
Reviews
The flavors are unreal. The BBQ is outstanding, reminds me of Bundu Khan Lahore, and honestly, it might even be better. The nihari is just like Mohamedi Nihari, rich and perfectly spiced, and I personally prefer this one.
What really sets this place apart is how extremely clean, hygienic, and fresh everything is. They make their dishes fresh every single day, and you can truly taste the quality in every bite.
You must try the haleem, nihari, BBQ, and their pulao. On Fridays, they also make extra special dishes, which are always worth it.
They also have amazing tea/chai
I visit this place every week, and the food is consistently amazing. Authentic taste, top-level cleanliness, and food made with real care. I highly, highly recommended
Just a warning ⚠️ the prices are rather higher than what they should be I feel. $30 for a plate is high for the atmosphere and ambiance they lack. I do a lot of dining out. I still give them a good review because the chicken tikka was mouth watering Delicious.
Ambience:
The place itself is simple, with no-frills décor and lighting that could definitely be improved. It is not the kind of restaurant you go to for atmosphere, but more for the food. Still, upgrading the décor and lighting would make the experience even better.
Service:
We were warmly welcomed and served by a young lady originally from Multan, who was friendly, efficient, and quick to bring out our meal. Food was served within 5–10 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise.
Food:
I ordered the chicken karahi, butter naan, samosa chaat, kheer, and chai. Honestly, I was not expecting much given the modest setup, but the flavors were outstanding. The chicken karahi was packed with authentic spices, the naan was fresh and buttery, and the kheer was a satisfying finish. The highlight for me was the samosa chaat, which tasted very authentic with the right balance of chutneys, spice, and crunch. Everything had that true homemade flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the price point was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food.
Notes:
They only accept cash, so plan ahead. Luckily, there is an ATM next door if needed.
They also have a small prayer room available if you want to quickly pray, which is a thoughtful and convenient touch you don’t often find in restaurants.
The food here was so good I could even see myself ordering it for catering.
Overall:
Tasty Halal Restaurant is an unassuming spot with phenomenal food. If you are near the ferry and craving authentic South Asian flavors, this place is absolutely worth stopping by. The décor could use some work, but the food and hospitality more than make up for it. I would happily come back the next time I am in the area.
I spent $57 on my order, and despite that, I overheard one of the employees speaking negatively about me simply because I didn’t place an even larger order. That kind of unprofessional behavior is completely out of line. It’s incredibly frustrating to support a business only to be disrespected by the very people you’re paying.
The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Instead of focusing on providing decent customer service, the staff seemed more interested in gossiping and badmouthing customers. If this is how they treat their customers, I can’t imagine how they handle anything behind the scenes.
I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless significant changes are made in terms of cleanliness, pricing, and staff professionalism.
