I have been traveling to Toledo on business over the last two years and I researched “best diner” looking for an adventure. Schmuckers’s restaurant came up in multiple searches, and after multiple visits, I have yet to be disappointed.

Having been in business for over 75 years, this classic roadside joint has perfected all the best elements of what a real diner should be.

Schmuckers’s delivers amazing comfort food and seriously yummy pies at reasonable prices. However, the best part of the experience is the prompt, friendly service from an entire team dedicated to keeping the special magic of this place alive. It is truly an entertaining site to behold.

If you are in Toledo or are anywhere near this part of Ohio, I highly recommend checking it out. Take a couple of pieces of pie to go and thank me later!

Go here if you want to have extremely bloody and greasy burgers. The pictures that I took are the bottom bun from both of our burgers that we bought. The funny part is when we said something to them they brought out a single bun so one of us got the bottom and the other one got the top. Still didn’t help the fact that it was extremely rare. Probably one of the worst places I’ve ever been as far as service from the waitress. But then again they were extremely busy and completely jam-packed so I don’t know why I was expecting my drink to be refilled the whole entire time I was there. I figured it was either the food or the prices that made this place so jam-packed but neither one impressed me at all so I am completely baffled.

Vintage classic all American diner! Super homey, feels like you’re in a small town here where locals come to eat and enjoy talking to each other. Service was great! Food was good! The pies were phenomenal! No complaints here. Enjoyed everything about this diner! Would love to come back again!

Out of everywhere in Toledo Ohio, between restaurants and dinners, Smuckers is by far the most amazing place for food. I would recommend this restaurant to any and every one. The authenticity of the old school retro style is amazing and uncanny. The food and service is at the upmost amazement quality that you could possibly find. They treat you as how you would want to be treated and they feel more like family than a stranger. This place has my vote every time! Thank you to the incredible staff and ownership of Smuckers.

Cozy but bland

Drove through the area and decided to try this diner during a busy lunch rush. There were no empty tables, so we had to wait a bit, which made us hopeful that the food would be amazing, given that it’s a popular local spot.

Our waitress was accommodating, helpful, and kind, but the food was rather bland. The roast beef and roast beef sandwich lacked any flavour, and the gravy was mildly flavoured. The turkey club was decent; it was a little dry but still quite good. The portions were enormous; one plate could easily serve 1.5 people.

The pricing is very affordable. I noticed that most of the patrons were elderly, so perhaps the food was tailored to their tastes. However, overall, I found it lacking in flavour.

Great diner experience. We stopped in for brunch and we were not disappointed. The home fries are crisp and delicious! I loved the garden omelette and my family member loved the burger. Be sure to save room for pie, yum! Our server seemed really rushed and annoyed but aside from that it was a great experience!
