We took a jeep tour at a nearby property and the driver told us about this little place down the road that does proper farm to table meals that people seem to love. He said he’d never been, but hopes to take his fiancé there someday (hint hint Cordwood, give Mormon from east Zion adventures a free meal!). We are so glad we listened to him.
The food is positively stellar, the service top notch, and the experience unforgettable. The bison in the fields as the sun sets over the rolling hills out the window set the most perfect scene for a positively 10/10 meal. Everything we tried was out of this world; Brussels explosively flavorful, a simple Caesar that’ll knock your socks off, and there’s nothing on the mains that you should say no to. AND YOU MUST leave room for dessert. My wife and I have already said we’d fly from the east coast to drive hours thru Zion just to have more of that incredible blackberry cobbler. If you can’t squeeze in another bite, just the smell of the fresh cobbler on the table will change your mind. You need to get it. You need to go. Stop reading this review and book it right now.
We were promptly seated and Kellie was our server. She was polite, friendly, and shared a beautiful smile as she brought us ice cooled H2O. We asked questions about the menu, farm to table focused, so selection change with availability.
We ordered a charcuterie board as our appetizer, Bison Bolognese for my wife, and a medium rare Bison Ribeye for myself. I choose a dark heavy beer to accompany my meal.
In minutes we had beer, meats, cheeses , pickled vegetables, and crackers. We loved the Elk offering best, firm yet soft, flavorful, pleasing. The bison salami was good, along with others meats. The cheeses were nice, smoked gouda, lavender gouda, fresh mozzarella, soft and delicious .
We past on salads as our minds knew the dinner portions were larger than required to feel full. Seconds after finishing our appetizer our main courses were served with a big smile.
The Bison Ribeye was perfect, exactly as I asked, tender, juicy, red Center, and tasty, so tasty I took pictures after a few bites, it was so good. Wife said hers was flavorful and filling, no disappointment here. Mine came with real mashed red potatoes flavored with soft fresh garlic cloves, mild yet perfect for the side. A second side was delicious Squash, softly prepared to melt in my mouth as flavors and textures made me think sweet potatoes or yams .
The meals were excellent, service fantastic, “Thank You Kellie”, and atmosphere exactly as we had hoped.
Out our window, with the Sunset , kids playing outside with a gentle Great Pyrenees, a group of explores in the distance, returning on horseback. Earlier we saw Bison feeding on the ranch.
Our best meal in a longtime, checking all the boxes for enjoyment and lifelong memories. Highly recommended the Cordwood experience as described !
The ambiance is stunning — beautiful views, a gorgeous interior, and fresh flowers on every table. The staff is warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.
Highly, highly recommended!
I ordered the bison ribeye, and it was perfection—juicy, tender, and full of rich, smoky flavor. Cooked to absolute perfection, every bite was a testament to the quality of ingredients and the chef’s expertise. Speaking of which, we had the pleasure of meeting the chef, who was incredibly passionate about the food and took the time to check in with us. It was clear that the team takes immense pride in what they do.
Our server, Tony, was phenomenal—attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. He made the experience even more enjoyable, offering great recommendations and keeping the energy light and fun.
We were there with kids, and they loved the homemade craft sodas—each one uniquely flavored and a great alternative to standard soft drinks. The wine selection was also top-notch, with a thoughtfully curated list that perfectly complemented the meal.
Overall, Cordwood exceeded all expectations. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience with outstanding food, warm hospitality, and a great atmosphere, this is the place. A solid 5-star recommendation, and I can’t wait to return!
I can only describe the as a GOLD NUGGET find in the middle of no where, (no offense). Enroute north of Zion before you reach Mt Carmel UT.
This CORDWOOD restaurant is affiliated with Zion Mountain Ranch which is a Bison/Buffalo ranch which also offers lodging and other services including horse back riding, etc.
My fince and I stopped on our way out ofthe ZIon area and onward to the Bryce Canyon area.
The menu offerings may seem slim at first but our orders; Bison Chili and Bicon Bolognese were STUNNINGLY delicious.
We could NOT have been more pleased by our selections.
Service was attentive, friendly and effective at keeping us extremely satisfied.
We’re from Pennsylvania, a long way, but I’m already toying with another visit to the area secretly to experience this venue and it’s food again.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
