Social Profile:

Jim and Jean Pope married in 1947 and had four children. In 1964, the family moved from the east coast to California. On the way, they spent a night here in Seligman at the Navajo Motel (now known as the Historic Route 66 Motel). The family settled in Westminster, CA and owned and operated a family catering truck business. In 1983, the family sold their business and bought several other businesses in Seligman, AZ. One of those businesses being the Navajo Motel that the family had stayed in 20-years earlier. They also bought the Historic Route 66 General Store, Historic Route 66 Automotive and Towing, and a small bar called the O.K. Saloon. A patio was added to the front of the O.K. Saloon to hold parties and dances.

Rustic place with plenty local color & taxidermy offering charbroiled burgers & other American grub.

⭐ Historic Route 66 Icon on I-40. A Must-Stop for Food, Coffee & Americana in Arizona

The Roadkill Cafe / O.K. Saloon is one of those legendary Route 66 stops that never gets old and we’ve visited several times while driving from California to Arizona on I-40. Every stop has been consistently fun, memorable, and satisfying.

First things first: parking is easy and free, with a wide lot that’s perfect for road trippers, RVs, and anyone just stretching their legs after a long drive. Inside, the atmosphere is pure Route 66 Americana authentic, well preserved and full of character. From the décor to the mounted memorabilia and historic signs, the place feels like a living museum that still serves great food.

The coffee is solid, and the burgers are excellent. If you’re feeling adventurous, the “Toad Off the Road” Elk Burger is a standout flavorful, juicy, and surprisingly well balanced. Classic burgers are also done right, and the desserts are outstanding, making this a perfect stop whether you want a full meal or just a sweet break.

Cleanliness matters on the road, and this place delivers: restrooms are clean and well-maintained, which is always appreciated when traveling. There’s also a large gift shop packed with cool souvenirs, Route 66 memorabilia, and fun finds you won’t see at typical tourist stops.

Overall, this is not just a restaurant it’s a true Route 66 experience. Authentic, welcoming and consistently enjoyable.
Highly recommended for anyone driving I-40 or exploring historic Route 66 in Arizona.

We ate here today on a road trip and it was excellent. This was honestly the best burger I have had in years. The seasoning was perfect. It was juicy. The bun was really good as well. The fries were also really good and seasoned perfectly. If you are road tripping down route 66 I would highly recommend stopping here.

I found this little cafe on my way back from Vegas and was impressed with the menu options and affordable prices!! I had never tried buffalo before so I had the Tire Tread Buff (the Buffalo Burger). Wow!! The flavor was wonderful and was cooked to order alongside my choice of French fries or Cole slaw (I choose the French fries). Yum!! There’s a cute little gift shop located inside where you can look around while waiting for your food to buy souvenirs. The waitress was very attentive and the cooks were on-point!! Check out this little cafe if your ever in the area or passing thru and searching for a nice place to eat with great food options!

5 star service! Fun, friendly, quirky menu and atmosphere. Slices of pie the size of your head. I had the blt with avocado on RAISINbread. So good it didn’t even require mayo. Also enjoyed the roadkill mai tai.

A delightful fever dream of the Wild West

Walking into the Roadkill Café / O.K. Saloon felt like stepping into a parallel-universe Arizona where taxidermy, chaos, and pure eccentricity have formed an unholy alliance. The décor is a glorious disaster: every wall crammed with objects that absolutely shouldn’t coexist, yet somehow scream, “Yes, I’m here. No, I won’t explain myself.”

And honestly? I loved every second.

Now, the service… let’s just say the staff do the bare minimum required to appear friendly and helpful—and it’s honestly part of the charm. They give you the vibe of seasoned saloon keepers who will serve you with a half-smile, as if they’re doing you a favor, but still make sure you don’t starve. Functional, mildly amused, slightly confused: the holy trinity of roadside hospitality.

Food? Good enough to survive the desert.
Atmosphere? Unforgettable fever dream.
Overall? A place you visit once, laugh about forever, and secretly want to brag you survived.

A must-stop for anyone who enjoys their Americana with a twist of madness.

Fun restaurant right on Route 66! Probably the best burgers and fries we had on our recent trip. Very friendly service, unique decor and great beer selection. Convenient walk from the Historic Route 66 Motel where we stayed for the night. Highly recommend!

This is a great diner experience. The roadkill theme from the decor to the funny menu names is unique and is what originally drew us in. But it was incredibly friendly and thoughtful customer service and delicious food that made it top notch! If you like classic American diner fare, this is your place. I really can’t say enough good things about our experience. A must stop if passing nearby Seligman!

What a fun and unique stop right on Route 66! The atmosphere is rustic, full of character, and makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

The food was excellent — the Buffalo Burger was absolutely fantastic, juicy and flavorful, and definitely a must-try. The wings were perfectly sauced and crispy, and the burger plate with fries hit the spot. Service was friendly, fast, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.

If you’re driving through Seligman, this is a Route 66 gem you don’t want to miss. Highly recommend!

Very Route 66 spot in Seligman, great food and a unique atmosphere. We ordered the original burgers, one of them was burnt but there was a fresh one made immediately for us. We loved all details inside. There is also a small souvenir shop. Great place!
