Definitely i will never comeback, We were excited to try this location. If you want the experience of ” nice ” restaurant ,for pictures are nice.
To dine in, is a big NO Quality of food is really poor, super overpriced for Quality, make sure you make the right question for your order, also you can’t substitute any item, because apparently ” The server admitted that he didn’t communicate properly ” and still charged for extra item. But definitely what was more disturbing is when I released safety violations.
As a restaurant they should provide proper training on practice for safety knowledge and skills needed to do their work safely for them and the guest to avoid or create hazard conditions on the restaurant and food.
I realized that the two employees hosting and setting, at the same time where cleaning the tables with the same wiping cloth over and over re-use without having in on a proper sanitation container.
They used for the tables, menus and door !!!! Never see it change, rinsed for more than 40 min. Or wash hands every time they clean a table !!!!!!!
Definitely disgusting. No wonder all day we have stomach pain
Catedral Cafe is a true hidden gem that offers more than just a meal—it offers a transportive experience. Step inside and leave the bustling Chicago streets behind; you’ve entered a serene, beautifully appointed space that feels like a peaceful sanctuary. The walls, adorned with stunning religious iconography and traditional Mexican artwork, create an atmosphere that is both reverent and warmly inviting. It’s the perfect setting for a quiet moment of reflection or a heartfelt conversation.
But the true divinity here is found on the menu.
Let’s start with the Café de la Olla. This is not just coffee; it’s a ritual in a cup. Brewed with cinnamon and piloncillo sugar, each sip is a warm, aromatic, and deeply comforting embrace. It’s the kind of soul-warming drink that you crave on a chilly morning or as the perfect finish to any meal. Without a doubt, it’s the best Café de la Olla I’ve found outside of a Mexican abuela’s kitchen.
And the delights don’t stop there. Their natural juices are an absolute revelation. Fresh, vibrant, and bursting with real fruit flavor, they are the perfect antidote to overly sweetened, artificial drinks.
The entire experience is elevated by the genuinely kind and welcoming staff who make you feel like an honored guest in their home.
Catedral Cafe is a blessing to Chicago’s dining scene. It’s a place where beautiful decor, soulful food, and authentic drinks come together to create something truly special. If you’re searching for an authentic taste of Mexico and a respite for your soul, this is your destination.
Your search for the perfect Café de la Olla ends here. This place is nothing short of heavenly.
