Social Profile:

Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

Waited 20 minutes for cold garlic steakburgers. No garlic sauce except one small dot of it on one side for EACH burger, but both had so much garlic seasoning on top that it was crunchy. Got the chili fries and paid an extra $2 for ranch. Got no ranch, so wasted $2. Fries were slathered in beans and chili and we’re completely soggy. No salt, seasoning, or flavor other than soggy fries and beans. They skipped our order and forgot about it in the back and when we asked we received the cold burgers. Won’t be returning

It is not the same. There is not a server anymore and you use kiosks to order. I miss the older burger and shake diner feel it had. This location had good food but that was it

I visited this location and it has changed drastically from the way I remenber Steak N’ Shake! Three stars is the average for this review. The food was good, no issues there. It was the ambiance of the restaurant in question. You have to order your food from a kiosk, there are no bar stools to sit at a bar like setting like they used to have, they no longer bring your orders to you, instead they call your name and you pick up your order. The staff no longer wears the white and black attire that made it feel like a malt shop, It felt more like a typical fast food restaurant. But in a word, it also felt…. Woke! I doubt I’ll be back to visit.

Burgers are great and the price is more than reasonable. Been twice in 2 weeks, both times were pleasant. Clean facility and well staffed. If you haven’t been here in a while its really stepped up

Let me start by saying I have always loved Steak-n-Shake’s burger and fries. I hadn’t had it in awhile so I picked up an order yesterday (11/06/25). I seen all these signs talking about fries cooked in tallow oil…didn’t know too much about it so I was willing to give it a try. Let me say it really threw off the taste of the french fries. They tasted like a mouth full of beef stew…not what I wanted at all. Apparently, not what my digestive system wanted either. I am really busy in the bathroom this morning to put it as nice as I can. I won’t be back. I don’t want beef stew fries. I want the old fashion taste back…if the restaurant chain is able.

We went with 3 of our teenagers and my father. We all got hamburger with either fries or onion rings. Everything tasted great! Most of us order the garlic steak burger. It tastes great but very messy and greasy (it is a burger, though)! You have to order at a kiosk and get your food from the counter when they call your name or order number. It did ask for a tip at the kiosk, but no one did anything for us. We cleared our table after we ate. Service was quick, especially considering we had 6 people! The store was very clean.

Cashier was friendly and accommodating. Food was correct and good. Will be visiting again. I used the drive thru so unsure of ‘atmosphere’. Looked clean and orderly through the window.

Our first visit since all the changes that have taken place. The burger was actually an upgrade. The fries are the string variety and the milkshake was not hand dipped as in the past but not bad during 1/2 price happy hour. There is no table service. Everything must be ordered on the kiosk and picked up at the counter. The drink machine is interesting. You must scan to dispense your purchased pop. We were welcomed and enjoyed our economical meal. We do so miss the little baked bean crocks. They were terrific. There needs to be an option that is not French frys.

I didn’t like my milkshake and the manager Francisco asked if I enjoyed it. I was honest and said I wasn’t a fan. He then gets me another flavor and makes sure I enjoy it. He seems very prideful in his work and does a great job. Will be coming back because of his service.
