First time here and what a pleasant surprise despite an Old World feel that is quite stale but quite charming at the same time.

The Warm Bruschetta was the night’s special, and it was the perfect starter for a cold night with a garlicky toasted bread smothered with a mild tomato sauce studded with cherry tomato and mozzarella cheese balls that reminded me of a good pizza from Italy.

The Frutti di Mare pasta was replete with mussels, shrimp, class, and Squid that defied the dishes’ reasonable price point. I was really impressed by the perfectly cooked seafood. The sauce was not too heavy on the tomato with some wine, a good hit of garlic, and a hint of dried chili pepper which allowed the protein to shine through.

The Chicken Piccata was smooth and not dry with a rather thick sauce made with lemon juice and capers – I only wished it was more zingy with lemon juice. The sides were worthy with perfectly sautéed vegetables along with pasta in a light tomato sauce amped up by good Parmigiano.

With a crowded dining room, I can see why this place is popular and has lasted this long despite competition nearby. With cooking this good as well as authentic, I will be paying it more visits.

This is quickly becoming our go to italian spot in Bethesda. Their homemade pasta dishes are delicious, lovely cocktail menu, large salads and great service. The restaurant is near lots of street parking and right next to a public garage for busy times. My favorite dish is the lasagnetta on the homemade pasta menu.

Our group enjoyed a lovely Italian dinner here in Bethesda. Basic Italian food done well with reasonably filling portions at a decent price.

Trattoria Sorrento is a long-standing family-owned Italian restaurant, which strengths lie in its deeply personal service and value pricing. Portions are large and flavorful but I found the marinara sauce to be bland and somewhat average. The salads are a highlight with fresh and crisp greens and vegetables. An enjoyable dining experience overall.

We arrived right at 5pm when they opened. It was a bit chaotic as they were expecting several large groups. It wasn’t long before it was packed. Regardless of the number of people we had a very nice dinner. Vanessa was awesome juggling several tables. The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. We had been customers of Pines of Rome for over 45 years with the last 20+ driving from Annapolis. Due to their decline in service, quality of food & erratic pricing we were looking for a new dining option and we found it tonight at Sorrento’s. And very happy we did. We will be back for sure! Great menu with lots of options to choose from. Thanks for a great dining experience…and please thank Vanessa!

Came here when the doors opened a while back. We were seated promptly as the restaurant was empty. As the evening went on, of course, it filled up more and more. We ordered a few dishes, all very well done and cooked to perfection.

The place and staff felt very familial and well versed on their specials and menus. While it did take a little while for the food to be served, it’s not a chain restaurant where they unseal your food from a bag and microwave it. The wait at a place like this that means the food is very freshly made, and it was indeed worth the wait. I highly recommend this place,

We happened upon this restaurant as we were looking for a place to eat in Bethesda. We read the menu and were eager to try the food. The hostess and waitress shared the specials and made recommendations. The drinks were delicious, but the real thrill was the food. It was fresh, and the portions were generous. We even bought some house-made biscotti to take with us. We can’t wait to return.

Very nice time with family at a cozy & very reasonably priced restaurants. All the Italian dishes with down home family service. I’ll definitely go back. We enjoyed the meatballs, calamari, Cesar salad, spaghetti & meatballs, veal parmigiana, fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna and we capped it off with espresso & homemade Italian bread pudding. My pictures aren’t the best because we starting eating before we took pictures.

All the food was delicious. I ordered the special, the red snapper was really tasty. The spaghetti marinara was good but the penne vodka was my favorite. For the ones that don’t like pasta we got a chicken with mushrooms sauce, potatoes and veggies.
