Decent Indian lunch thali special (in lieu of a buffet). Chicken tikka and chana chickpea curry combo comes with rice and house-baked naan. Thankfully, well-spiced (without the salt overload) leaving a satisfying linger minus the food coma.

A serious hole-in-the-wall, a true Punjabi dhaba.

I have been going here every Sunday since I moved here a few months back, and this was the first Indian restaurant I had tried. The person that works there is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and gives me many of options when I want to try something new. I enjoy eating their Chicken Tikka Massla Pizza; it’s really wonderful. Despite being empty the place is peaceful and pleasant, and the jazz music in the background is pleasant. If you’re new to the city or want to taste Indian food, I highly recommend this eatery!

Now, it was a Wednesday evening of some distinction, not by weather nor society, but by the simple fact that I found myself—post-yoga, soul cleansed and stomach empty—ambling toward the end of Judah Street, where the mighty ocean hums lullabies to weary cityfolk.

I was hunting supper. Not a banquet, mind you, but something honest, warm, and preferably involving potatoes. The city had gone quiet, the stars blinked over the Sunset, and there—like a lighthouse to the hungry—I spotted Golden Gate Indian Cuisine & Pizza, its modest sign glowing like the answer to a question I didn’t know I’d asked.

They had a table out front. Just one. It sat lonely and noble, like a sheriff on night patrol. I claimed it.

I ordered as follows:
— Two samosas, firm and golden, filled with mashed potato and what I suspect was the exact pea from Eden.
— A Flying Horse Royal Lager, tall and cold, and brewed with the kind of discipline I wish more men possessed.
— And the crowning glory: a Vegetarian Masala Pizza. A creation I could only describe as what would happen if Naples and New Delhi had a love child and raised it in the California sun.

The pizza was not spicy—not fiery, not arrogant—but gentle and fragrant, a kind of masala lullaby. The crust was proper, not a chewy affair, and the toppings fresh as if they’d been plucked from a garden behind the kitchen. For those who desire more heat (and I do), they’ll kindly provide a tray of extra spices with the gravity of a spice bazaar in miniature.

Service? Friendly and sincere. None of your slick nonsense. Just warm folks who care if you’re fed.

And here’s the part most don’t mention: they’re open late. That’s a kindness rare in these parts. If your yoga ends after nine, or you’ve just stared at the sea wondering where your life went sideways, they’ll still serve you—with a smile, a samosa, and a seat beneath the stars.

For couples: maybe grab takeout and charm each other over Netflix. But if you’re solo—an adventurer, a wanderer, or a humble storyteller—this little table by the wall is perfect. The kind of table where stories begin and indigestion never follows.

Highly recommended. And that’s no small praise from a man who’s dined with generals, fools, and the occasional ghost.

I was out at Ocean Beach at sunset, starving afterwards and looking for a place open late before my long 1 hour journey on the bus back to my lodging.

Found this place open late and have been wanting to try an Indian-style pizza, so I had to! Of course, I can never resist mango lassi or pakora – both were fantastic (along with their sauces).

The Tikka Masala pizza was good for sure, but I’ll admit I was expecting a bit more of typical tikka masala sauce as the base. It was more or less lots of veggies/herbs and tandoori chicken.

They were SUPER friendly as well, no complaints!

Best Indian Pizza and one of the best pizzas on the west side. Pizza came out ahead of schedule even during the Superbowl.

Located in outer sunset, Golden Gate Indian Cuisine & Pizza offers an extensive menu from Indian to pastas and pizzas. I remember trying them couple of years ago when I first visited SF. Back then I tried their samosas, curries and kabab. They were pretty good. I believe they are still good.
This time I tried their hot spicy chicken pizza and samosa. While samosa did taste hood, pizza was very unappetizing. On top of that it was burnt. The cheese wasn’t of the best quality and it was nowhere near spicy. For a small pizza and over twenty dollars, I would skip it. The chicken was overly colored, could be the same chicken they use for Tandooris. I would still try their Indian dishes though.

The place is locked away from crowd and crowded street, the interiors look okay. Food is good just about okayish. However the tables are cleaned and maintained. It kinda stinks of the left over food. Service is okay. The kids managing mess up the bills. If you don’t check the amount bill you might end up paying for others meal

As we entered the restaurant, there were no guests. We still chose it for dinner.
The restaurant is family run.
The food was delicious, we had the Chicken Makhanwala (butter chicken) and garlic Naan bread. Be careful, the rice is not included, you have to order it separately for 4$. They gave us free tap water.

The service could be better, the young lady only came to take the orders and serve the food.
We got free wifi.
The price is a little high for the amount you get but I would still recommend going there!

Well there’s a lot I want to say and most is not good. I ordered Lamb Tikka Masala and garlic naan. I will start by saying I was excited cause the aroma in the restaurant was amazing however the food lacked the flavor I was smelling. The lamb was not tender at all as well as the flavor got left somewhere from the kitchen to the table. The naan wasn’t it at all either. I was expecting basmati rice but got regular rice instead which didn’t make the dish at all. My one last thing was the tap water I was served with something floating in it. I will not be returning.
