So. I was on the fence about how to rate this location, coming from the east coast. I am in the area for training and this restaurant came highly recommended. As a disclaimer, I do not eat Catfish so unfortunately I cannot review the dish in which they are known for. Sorry! Parking was not an issue. They open at 5pm during the week and I arrived around 6. I was seated immediately. My server, Rebekah was great, despite having two large parties in addition to me. I ordered the fried crawfish and shrimp scampi combo with the spicy northern beans. The crawfish was delicious except they were served with cocktail sauce as opposed to a remoulade, which would’ve been a better choice. The beans were flavored well but too dry so it was difficult to finish. The shrimp were delicious, although they weren’t really flavored like a scampi. But they were GOOD. The cornbread was great. It has actual corn and jalapeño, although it did not come with butter. I had to ask for it. When I was finished, I had to pay at the register. The same host who sat me, also checked me out. He was a bit distracted as he was when I first arrived. He used pleasant language but he also sat my credit card on the counter, as well as my receipt, despite the fact that I gave him everything in hand. I do feel that’s a bit rude. Over all, it was an okay experience.

As a service technician, I see a ton of different kitchens. All of these locations have stellar kitchens, some of the cleanest I’ve ever seen!!! The food is fresh and always delicious . I highly recommend trying these folks out!!!

We recently ordered takeout from Top O’ the River in Alabama, and it was fantastic from start to finish. We got the Riverboat Special, which came with a generous half-pound fried catfish fillet, hush puppies, and a choice of sides. We chose the baked potato and also received their signature skillet cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions. Everything was packaged well and still piping hot by the time we got it home. The catfish was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was fried to perfection with a crisp, golden coating that was flavorful and not greasy at all. The cornbread was fresh and hot… as if it were served right out of the the skillet, and the sides tasted just as good as they would have in the restaurant. Portions were extremely generous for a to-go order and could have easily fed more than one person. Service was quick, friendly, and professional. The staff made sure everything was accurate and ready without any hassle. Even though we didn’t dine in, the care they put into the food and packaging made it feel like we were still getting the full experience. We’ll definitely be ordering again, and next time we may just stay and enjoy it there.

First time here, was recommended to come and try to catfish. Being from the north I expected a little more creole seasoning in the food, did not really taste any with the catfish. Nice family, friendly environment, the wait staff was very attentive. Good price for the food value that you get. Order the onion rings as an appetizer and as you can see by the pictures, they came very large, but they were very good.

Top O The River is extremely overrated! Went here on a Friday evening at 8pm, they don’t close until 10pm. Food wasn’t cooked fresh at all, I guess the kitchen closes early! Seemed like they cooked everything before you order and it’s just sitting under the warmer. Our server name was Rachel she was really nice. I’m from Birmingham and the quality of food as well as freshness of the food was awful! Will never even think about going back to this place! I wanted to give this location a try because I’ve heard great things about it but Ezell Catfish Cabin is by far better than this!!!!!

Top O’ the River is a well-known seafood restaurant. There was no wait, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and excellent with our server, Chevez. He brought the spicy pot o’ greens, coleslaw, and cornbread without haste. All were flavorful and delicious. We ordered the Riverboat Special and two build your own Combo platters. The fried whole fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. On the other hand, the fried fillets lacked the same seasoning and taste. It is worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We were greeted by a friendly girl and seated as soon as we walked in. I’m not sure if our server, Colton , was just new at serving or if he doesn’t like people. He never greeted us, just walked up to the table and said, “What do you want to drink?” He never said you’re welcome or come back. The onion rings appetizer was $7.95 for 3 giant, raw, and greasy onion slices. The slaw and cornbread are good. The catfish was good but really greasy. The restroom has no paper towels, just the germ blower. Also, it’s as cold as a well diggers rear end in the restaurant. Bring your winter coat!

First time going and it’s Mother’s Day so it was very busy, however our wait time was only 36mins✊ . The restaurant is huge, so even tho it was crowed we were not packed.
Our waitress, Ms Lynn was super nice.
Okay….the food!!!!! We ordered appetizers ( onion rings and fried pickles) they were hot and delicious. They also gave us fried Mexican corn bread and coleslaw both was delicious . All this was before the food!!!! We ordered the seafood platter, it was humongous, fried catfish, 3 different kinds of shrimp, crabmeat, French fries and hush puppies……not kidding at ALLLLLLL! If you haven’t been go…..
Highly recommend
