Fantastic Happy Hour until 6:30pm. The potstickers were my favorite of the apps we ordered. I enjoyed the mango-jito. Great flavor balance. Brenda and Margo took excellent care of us.

Great seafood even better service from Lyndsay at the bar. Arrived 7PM Friday night and it was jammed but I got a seat at the bar and had a great meal – grilled Atlantic Salmon. Cooked perfectly (pink in the middle). I have never had a bad meal here.

Great place for seafood lovers. Lots of options to pick from. Very nice environment. Service was immaculate. The server had excellent suggestions for what to try. The crab cakes very excellent. Fish & chips were good but a little dry. Cooked to order fish options were also nicely done. Place can get a little noisy when full. But would recommend to go if you like seafood.

(Last visited 12/21/2022.) Hanging out in Michigan on business and I’ve always heard great things about Mitchell’s Seafood House, so today’s the day I take Mom and Dad there to check it out! Here’s how it went.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Having a private parking lot is a huge plus because it takes away the stresses of having to find someplace to park, then paying for it and having to walk further than necessary to get to the restaurant. Once inside you’re transported to what feels like the northeast, but like a modernistic version of it. The outside is a standalone brick building, but inside boasts dark tiles, chic nautical themes and lights walls/ceilings that give the space a more open appeal. It wasn’t very loud in here at all either.

Service: Raj took care of us and they were excellent. There was nothing that we had to ask for.

Food: So known for their seafood, I stuck to that exclusively. I started off with the Maine Lobster Bisque. It was deliciously smooth, flavorful and creamy, but was missing chunks of lobster which I have seen in almost every other lobster bisque that I’ve had. No big deal. For my entree I went with the Dynamic Duo which consists of a stuffed lobster tail, grilled BBQ shrimp, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The presentation wasn’t the best, but the food was pretty good. I loved the fact that they bring a device to the table that allows the butter for the lobster to be set on top of a small flame to keep it from congealing. I had never seen anything like that before! The food was delicious! Shrimp felt a little overcooked though.

Value: At the time my soup was $10.90 and my entree was $42.00. Now, the soup is $11.50 and the Dynamic Duo is no longer offered according to their online menu. Naturally, this is a seafood restaurant and it’s going to be expensive. Bring the wallet for sure. Lol.

In conclusion, I liked this place and can understand the hype for sure. Would I come back? Sure! It wouldn’t be my choice, but I’d have no problem joining someone else if they wanted to check it out. Thank you for reading.

I didn’t really want to give a 3 star but the amount of time between salads and our meal being delivered was excessive. We watched several tables around us get there meals before us. We didn’t make a big deal out of it in the restaurant because we were in such good moods. I ordered the lunch fish & chips and my husband the lunch tilapia and shrimp pasta. We didn’t think it would take almost 20-25min between getting some bread and our salads to the actual meal. Our server was as attentive as she could be but saw the frustration and just keep attending to other tables until she could bring the actual food out. Never she acknowledged or apologize for the long wait. I’m guessing our calm demeanor allow her to dismiss the fact we didn’t have our food. She did however check regularly after our food had arrived. Someone gifted my to visit Mitchell’s and I thought give them another try. I will allow some more time to elapsed before visiting again. Management did visit some of the tables around us but not us. Favor ain’t fair but all money is green so I will choose to share mine with businesses who value customer service and care.

The bacon wrapped shrimp is really good. I also had the Mediterranean chicken I didn’t expect it to be breaded , but it was still good nonetheless

We chose to try Mitchell’s Fish Market on Valentine’s Day after calling and being told the wait was about 15 minutes. When we arrived, it had increased to over an hour, which we understand on a busy holiday.
The larger issue, however, was the service. The hostess was dismissive, and that tone carried throughout the evening. After finishing our first drinks, no one asked if we wanted another for the next hour and a half.
Our food arrived after several parties who ordered after us, and only after we asked another bartender to check on it. Because of the long wait, my wife had already started eating when she realized parts of her meal were cold. When she spoke with the manager, the plate was taken and half the meal discarded without asking if she was finished. After that interaction, the service felt even more dismissive. Other guests at the bar overheard and commented that it was rude and unacceptable.
The manager’s response felt defensive, and there was no communication that our bill would be adjusted, which caused further delay as we waited for the check. Although $20 was eventually taken off our nearly $130 bill, the overall experience made it clear that hospitality was not a priority.
This was our first visit, and it will likely be our last.

Went for happy hour in the bar after work. The entire restaurant was packed, and we ended up waiting 40 minutes for a booth in the bar area. There were several open tables ready in the bar area, and they stayed empty for a very long time. The kind of unfriendly main hostess said that these tables were on a wait. I don’t know what that meant, but I didn’t want to press her for a better answer because I got the feeling that I might have to wait even longer if I did.

It was worth the wait, though. I got a gigantic, delicious fish sandwich and fries with a pomegranate martini, and it didn’t break my budget.

The service could have been a little better. The server never returned to ask if I wanted another drink, or even to refill my water, but I make allowances since it was so busy and the happy hour pricing was so good. The water tasted a little chemically though, definitely not a clean, crisp filtered water, could have really used another martini.

We had a gift card for Mitchell’s and this was our first time. We made a reservation and when we arrived on time, we were asked to wait. The lobby was crowded and we understood. The wait allowed us to witness the host staff interacting with patrons. Both hostesses were loud and terse and the way they shouted out names and spoke with patrons made us feel more like we were at the DMV than a nice restaurant. We ordered the Shanghai Seafood Sampler and Snow Crab legs. The crab legs were meh quality (think current Red Lobster). They came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both were inedible. Truly. I don’t know how you can screw up those sides but both tasted…old? The seafood sampler was even worse. It’s sad when the only tasty part of a seafood meal was the rice and spinach. The scallops were rubbery, the shrimp was worse and the salmon tasted like mildew. If this was something we had to pay for we would have sent both meals back and left. The service, while friendly, was scarce. She left piles of dishes on our table and never asked to refill our beverages. She topped off our night by leaning in close to our table and blowing out the candle under our drawn butter. I felt her breath. Pre 2020 this may not have felt so disgusting but in today’s age, it was gross.
