A Masterclass in How Not to Run a Restaurant
I’ve never seen less hustle or concern. Everyone working in the front of house could have made a lot of money this night if anyone cared even a little bit. I’ve never experienced service this poor, especially at a place that is far from cheap. We arrived a few minutes early for a 5:00 PM reservation and didn’t leave until almost 8:00 PM. Nearly 3 hours for a basic hibachi dinner, with almost no communication or apology, is ridiculous.
Timeline:
4:57 PM — Arrive early for 5:00 reservation
~5:20 PM — Finally seated after waiting in the bar
~5:30 PM — Drink orders taken
~5:45 PM — Drinks arrive (missing waters, no refills all night)
6:25 PM — My small, bland, not-fresh seaweed salad finally shows up
6:40 PM — Still no chef
6:56 PM — Rice finally served (they forgot the white rice for my mom but we didn’t bother asking them to fix it) as cooking begins
~7:40 PM — We leave, almost three hours after walking in
The food was okay, but nowhere near good enough to justify the wait. Miyako Sushi & Grill by Voice of America is much better on taste, pace, and service. Made a mistake by trying something different.
We went to the manager twice and never got an apology, explanation, or concession. They were clearly understaffed, yet continued seating people like everything was normal. The photo of six full tables with no chefs says everything.
If you value your time, your money, or basic hospitality, go somewhere else.

The portion size was an absolute joke for the amount of food given. We had about a spoonful of chicken and 2 pieces of zucchini. The only other veggie made for our group was onions. They refused to make any mushrooms or any other veggies. Our group ordered steamed rice which they kept saying, “it’s coming”. Our meat and veggies were done and plated which we ate because we wanted to enjoy them hot. Everyone was done with their meal before rice ever came.
Then the waitress came back to the table to let us know the steamed rice was still not finished but they had fried rice ready if we’d like to switch. 2 people in our group opted for the rice simply because we were still hungry. I’m not sure how something as simple as steamed rice was unavailable even after a 20 minute wait. The “chef” didn’t put on much entertainment while cooking which I thought was supposed to be part of the experience. It seemed like everyone was able to enjoy a table to their party yet our group of 5 was forced into sitting with others. Not only was the food and portions disappointing but the group we were sat with were extremely rude. My mom was sat by a gentleman who decided to read a newspaper at the table and had she turned her head to the right at all would’ve had her eye poked by it.
This was my first experience with Benihanas and I can assure you it will also be my last. For the price and portion this place is nothing short of a joke. Our ultimate bill was $350 for about $20 worth of food. Do not come here if you’re hungry

Child friendly and excellent service, by all. We were told it was the 1st day for, Luis,(spelling?), our Teppanyaki Master. He gained my respect when after the introduction, his first question was, “are there any allergies?”. He cooked and served as though he was doing it for family. The establishment was upscale and filled our overall expectations.

I was invited to lunch and really didn’t want to dine in, almost 30 minutes the chef shows up after we get our salad/soups , the place is empty but just doesn’t feel clean. Our server was nice. Ordered a new butter that was like 3oz they charge $6 and put it in a tiny sauce pot with a handle and I end up spilling it trying to grab it. It’s all over the table, no way chef didn’t/doesn’t notice and he doesn’t offer to remake. Never going back unless it’s free.

The hibachi here is amazing! We had the filet and chicken—both cooked to perfection, super tender, and packed with flavor. From the apps to the fried rice, every course was delicious, and the hibachi show made it such a fun night out. Highly recommend!

Need patience waiting if you do not have reservations. Food has too much soy sauce and seasonings, soup is salty and salad a little bitter. Nothing special except the uniqueness of having your food cooked in front of you. Not for people who can tolerate a noisy atmosphere while dining. Not a good value for the price in my opinion because yes you get a five course meal however, you do not get to choose because it is a set menu except for your entree.

My spouse actually said the reviews for this place aren’t that great prior to making reservations but we thought, can’t be that bad. It was that bad. First impression, no heat and dirty bathrooms. Reservations at 4pm, seated at 4:30, drinks 20 min late, and incorrect, for $18 each, unacceptable. Bartender and server made it known they were overwhelmed. No water, no refills on soda. Hibachi chef nice enough, no entertainment, incorrect food received and some orders not received at all. All can be overlooked since having a good time with family and no need to rush but then came the unknown charges. Eight of the nine in our party requested fried rice instead of white, the server charged us for chicken fried rice at $7.50 per serving for a $60 up charge. The manager did agree to comp my filet for $50 since I didn’t receive, the server said a new one was coming up, that didn’t happen. Just pay attention to the reviews! We love a good meal and don’t mind paying for it but this was not worth the money!

The food is good. Wonderful service and environment. The price is high for the given food quantity.

– Hibachi chicken (5 course meal) with spicy. It’s not really spicy but has some spicy and full of flavor. Onion soup is really good.
– shrimp crunchy roll. good. Tastes wonderful.
– seafood Diablo (5 course meal). Shrimp and scallions tastes delicious.
– spicy chicken dumplings. Really good.
– sauces are good.
– Chicken fried rice with spicy. Ist not that spicy but full of flavor.
2. The only drawback is pice is too high for the quantity we get especially meat.
3. Drinks are good too. Especially Kirin light (Japanese beer).
4. Nice experience with the food being cooked infront of you right there on your table. B it takes long time.
5. Make sure to reserve before you go otherwise wait times are really high.

Went there with the birthday certificate for a free mail you are sent. However it is only good a few days a week and the day we were there wasn’t one of them. We stayed anyway. The food was okay at best. The serving portions were small for the price. And it was like pulling teeth to get a refill or another beverage. Will not be back anytime soon. Plenty of other hibachi style restaurants in the area that are much less expensive where you get plenty of food.

This was my first time at a Hibachi restaurant as well as my first time trying wagyu steak and it was phenomenal! Javier was such a fun chef and Dwana was an amazing server! My husband and I would definitely recommend Benihana to friends and even come back for another experience. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful dinner.
